Wow, winds at 135 and still in the warm gulf, and if it doesnt turn it's either Mobile AL , or US, on the MS coast. Man I hate boarding up windows. I'm not leaving unless it looks like a direct hit at 140 mph or above, or they MAKE us leave, it was a zoo trying to get out of here last time. Water is already about to cover my pier, but the house is at 22 feet above sea level so hopefully we'll be okay....say a prayer, you just never know about these hurricanes.
Holy schnikies! Tie everything down...if it doesnt float, put a pontoon around it. Hope your safe out there!
We need the rain here but I don't want you to have a hurricane for us to get it!!! Best wishes for minimal property damage. I know you'll watch your *** but take care if you stay. Keep us posted.
On a positive note, maybe that Cuban 59 Buick will land on your lawn Seriously, though, hope all in the face of this storm come through it un****hed. Remember, your possessions can be replaced, but your hide can't. Be careful and safe!
GOOD LUCK, MANG! We dodged it with some wind and rain but I got nailed last year by two of these motha****as!! Kinda like staring down the barrel of a gun, huh? I know what your going through right now! I wish you, your firends and your family the best of luck!
Yeah, watching with a steely eye from over here too - I've still got a house 30 miles East of Pensacola (Navarre) - don't even have my check from Ivan yet! I feel even more helpless than most since I'm 4000 miles away! Just what we need there...not! Although I'm eerily reminded of the back-to-back Erin/Opal tag-team of '95...
Eeesh! I'm supposed to be going to Gulf Shores, AL this October on vacation....hope they fair ok - although it's defenitely not looking good best of luck to you guys! If you need anything, don't forget to ask - the HAMB is a powerful thing -kris
I work for the local EMC here in middle Georgia. We made preps Friday if we were hit. If not our company sent their list of employees that will go where needed to restore the power. If power goes out bear with the guys they will do all they can to get everyones power back on. Stay safe
I guess we are ready--got two other couples staying with us with their 5 dogs-generator,gas,supplies-
Good luck!!! i have a very good car friend in Gulf Breeze,Fl they are gonna get ****in hammered!! i told him if the 29-31 bodys make it thru this time i will buy one!! God Speed!!!
Looks like the worst of it went to the east of ya - Pensacola and points east look like they got the most. I'm still waiting for the heaviest part to get up this way. Hunker down!
Yeah, my house is in Navarre...not looking too good from here - After Ivan, which wasn't too bad at my place, had fences & trees down along with a lot of shingles gone. Just got everything repaired...still waiting on my check too This sux - hope everyone there is doing ok...
Hoo - boy; it looks like the heaviest bands of rain are swinging off to the west of Montgomery, and the local precip. forecasts are falling. Haven't even lost power here - so far. Flat Ernie, the eye of the storm made landfall on Santa Rosa I., just off from Navarre about 5 hours ago. Cat 3 with 110-120 mph winds. Flooding isn't bad, but some wind damage in the area. Hope your place came through O.K. Down there, they're saying "at least it wasn't another Ivan."
It is raining pretty good now and is getting really gusty, now up this way. Flat ernie, the highest recorded wind was in navarre at 121MPH(to this point), hopefully your place is OK.
They say its gonna be Ivan all over again down your way so do what you have to do and hope you stay safe
Been reading the pensacolanewsjournal.com a bit - initial reports are somewhat positive, but they're few & far between. Just a couple of folks who rode it out looking in their immediate area. Looks like it hammered Navarre, but the good news is it was a very fast moving storm, so that could have minimized damage actually. Will probably know more tomorrow night as folks venture out & take pictures... I heard it was Ivan-like in Navarre - fences, trees, shingles, etc. Ivan was kinder to Navarre than Pensacola because of proximity - P-cola took the NE wall on Ivan, this time, it was Navarre's turn to take the NE wall... When I was there last in late Feb, there was very little on the water that had been rebuilt yet...I heard one of the roads just re-opened two weeks ago! Frustrating being this far away...
Well, thank God we skated this time, Looks like Navarre Florida got the worst? Man I hate it for you Florida guys, ya'll have had one blast after another. Thought for sure this one was Mobile AL or us. and its only July.....
Yep, we got lucky again...just a bunch of wind and rain here. But another one's already on the way.... number five... Brian
We had the eastern edge of the storm, about 30-40mph winds, only had minimal damage here. A little flooding and a sink hole across the street from my barn, and it took the top half of my favorite yellow tabueia tree off. Hope everybody up there gets their power back and checks in soon.
