That was awesome i have been in the parts buisness for 30 years and have had to deal with *****s like that thousands of times

  5. Dumb video.

Parts people just like anyone else in retail sales need to take a vacation when the customers start getting to their heads .... or go to beauty school and become a hairdresser ... wait, that wont work, hairdressers still deal with the public .... hows about just giving up altogether??

Only thing the GM should give you is a price reduction sheet so dealers will quit ripping people off.

The phrase that still almost thirty years later sometimes haunts my nightmares: "I be needin' a swi fo' my Hu Ho..." After many minutes of deciphering I came to the conclusion that this gent was looking for an ignition switch for a Peugot...

I did a 10 year sentence myself in parts. Once you learn to work around the "stupid" in people, it ain't so bad.

Guy comes in and asks for a set of blades for his mower. What kind you got my wife asks, a red one he replies. True story from last summer.

Had a guy today who needed a fuel line for a Monte Carlo. That's it. No year. Didn't know what engine. Didn't know feed or return. Got pissed when I told him I need more info. Deal with this ALL F'n day, every day. We're not mind readers!

I was in the business 40 years. The way most requests started was "I don't know what it's called, but......."). The peoples responses so for seem to indicate on what side of the counter they spent their time. A tech was being "critical" one day and I offered to switch places for the day. The bet would be, who could do the others job better. He wasn't interested. Norm:D

What gets me about the parts people up this way is that they just don't listen. This is what you get over and over.

" Yes, hello, I need a price and availability on front brake calipers for a 2000, Saturn SL1, with manual transmission".

"ok", click, click, click, click ( computer keyboard sounds). " That was a 2000 Saab" ? "No, a Saturn" more click, click , click. " Did you say rear drums "? " No front calipers". click, click, click " Do you want them loaded or unloaded"? " Loaded would be good ". click, click, click " Sorry we don't have them unloaded".

    They just don't listen!

Funny, it's usually the opposite here. The parts people I deal with generally don't have a clue.

When they ask me, "What's it for", I always laugh.

The parts guys/gals here pretty much let us walk back and find what we need now.

Cap and rotor for an early Vette dualpoint please.

    ---What year is the vehicle?

Its a '60 Ford Truck with a 327, but the cap and rotor I need are for a early Vette dualpoint.

    --- Stick or automatic?

    Turbo 350.

    ---Huh???

    Automatic..., but...

    ---And what is the year?

    '60...

---Sorry we dont list a 327 in a '60 ford truck.

ive been in a ford dealer for 10 years. i get alot of my own parts because the parts guy doesnt know diesels so its faster. we get some goofy characters that have no idea the year and model of there cars but that happens everywhere. what i hate is now we use the vin and it brings up everything like trim codes, paint code, model packages, engine, trans and everything. it gets annoying cus he wont get us a spark plug without a vin. and he tells customers all the time. it only goes back 10 years so he gets mad if its over.

then youve got the whole craigslist and facebook fiasco. so i blocked face book on his main computer. so when he's on the other everyone knows exactly what he's doing.

This is why I don't use my local Ford ,parts dept. . Last year I bought a replacement transmission for my 93 F150,a Mazda built 5 speed, when I received it the drain plug was missing. Stopped by the local Ford dealer to by a replacement, yes it was in stock, but the price was a deal breaker at $ 62.00. Picked the same metric plug up at my favorite parts store for$ 2.29. I just couldn't see the $ 59.71 difference.

i buy what i can from Rock Auto. the local parts houses don't want to mess w/old cars (49-52) that i have, and they don't care about my business. i tried to support my local businesses, but, once again, they don't care. i get better prices, name brand parts, quick delivery, don't have to wait in line and answer endless questions. works for me....jack

I have to say I have decent luck with my local parts stores. Most of them are decent. Local AZ has a sign up saying they are hiring and I am thinking about applying to get away from this nightshift hell.

I posted this just for laughs. I've been on both sides of the counter and it is funny view from the counterperson side. Never intended to offend anyone......funny is just that funny. I suspect that the person that made this had reached his saturation point.

Yep... There can be idiots on either side of the counter.

Difference is, the counter person has to wait for the next one.

But the customer can take his business elsewhere.

    Kinda the same thing.......
I was a Medical Field Service Tech. for years. Went into a major hospital lab in a Major city and spent 45 minutes trying to figure out what the lab supervisor was talking about. He was complaining about his 'Ibbamy commuter" being out of time. Finally ......
I discovered it was his Ib B Mmy computer had the wrong date.

This is why most of my shopping is done on line or give them the info about the type of car it came from
