thinking im gonna pic this car up fo a parts car.its about 150 miles away.sounds like it still has alot of the parts i need.and from the pics it almost looks like the body might be in good shape.for what the guy wants for it.it'll save me quite abit of money in the long run.i dont need to be talked into getting it.but feel free to let me know what you think
Parts cars are always good to have, usually able to sell off enough parts that you dont need to pay for them and get what you want for free. Years back I did a 59 Impalla convertable and picked up a 4 door for parts after striping everything I wanted sold the rest to a guy that wanted to make a couch out of the rear clip.
Looks good to me. Get it already. Complete parts cars are invaluable not only as parts donors but for reference as far as original assembly goes. I like the ´60 Suntan Copper Impala in the background too.
im pretty sure i looked at the impala when it was in town.pretty hashed.my car is a driver but there are things on it that could be better.i wish i knew how to run my camera better.i keep making the pics too big and then i cant up load them to the site.there is a real nice 60 impala out by my dads.thats the car that started it all for me.well that and the fact that you cant take little kids on motorcycles.emailed the guy for some more pics.will talk to my dad tonight and gonna try get it this weekend.
dog dish caps i may need them, 1 piece rear bumper, pretty rare. is the front 1 piece? chunk in rear getting hard to find also. dash parts! lots of good parts there!
Parts cars are almost always an excellent investment if the price is right. Take off what you need and sell whatever you don't need. I've parted out a couple of '59 Chevs and they do exceptionally well. If that '60 had a good price on it, I'd buy that one too for parts. Quite a bit of interchange between '59 and '60.
he said the front bumper is also a one piece part.im getting really excited to go get it.he only wants $450 FOR the biscayne.said he has 7 1959 and 60 parts cars.
id get it if you have the room to store it and dont have neighbors that will bring the city down on you for having it if you have the room id get the 60 in the pic also
fargo is unfriendly to having unregistered cars in your yard.the city has people that drive around and haras people that do.so i am planning on just getting the 59.dad said i can leave it on his trailer.then when they start hasling me i can bring it out to his place.i plan on keeping it tarped and hopefully that'll keep them off my back.they made me tow my 62 econoline and that car was in alot better shape than alot of vehicals that are on the road
That's a steal. There's easily 2K worth of parts on there if you part it out properly, depending on what you plan to keep for yourself.
I parted a 60 el Camino. got $3500.00 worth of crap off it. this was before ebay began to suck, so yo will get a lot less today. mine was way worse off than that. there is no part on that car that someone is not looking for. I did not throw anything way that another person could use. all I had left at the end was some rusty sheetmetal and a coffee can full of nuts and bolts. at that price I'd get one a month until they are all gone.
the bottom is the same but the window and top frame on the wagons is different. at $450 they are "practically giving it away", lots of parts you can sell if you do not need them.
i have looked at it and think it can be done a couple of ways. basically it could basically be like doing the door on a car with a chopped roof. cut the top of of yours and and add it to the top of the donor. if i found a really good pair off of a 4 door i may try it. i think you could also drill out all of the spot welds and switch the whole frame.
I try to buy every old 59 Chevy parts car that I can. It is basically a one year only car and they ain't makin anymore. Good parts will sell if you part it out right. If any of the trim/stainless/molding clips are good, treat them with care because they are the f'n hardest parts to find when it comes to reassembly. Good luck and have some fun with it. And yes I could use a few small pieces.
