I had a problem with my existing 250 and I am now looking to get a 292 remanufactured....any one with experience on a good builder or shop I can buy one from?

Your least expensive option is probably to take it to a local re-manufacture shop. One of your local mechanics might be able to lead you to one, or he/she might be able to do it at his/her shop. Sorry to hear about your engine.

Also, look in the HAMB cl***ifieds. There are some now and then and there are many ways to successfully ship a complete engine too without breaking the bank.

Call Larry with Clifford 951-471-1161 he can give you a good blueprint to build one for your application. He also uses a guy Bob Goodwin 951-553-1135 for the machine shop side that knows sixes. They are both out of the San Diego area. My 292 fully outfitted was around 5k. However, as far as the rebuild it was around $2500. you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.

There is also this one on the Hamb http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=677264&highlight=chevy+292
