http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlJeviXsKfo Very Cool about 20 minute video, Life in L.A. watch for the prices of the cars and a shot of a young Wally Parkes .
If anyone wanted to replicate what hot rods really looked like back then, that was a perfect video to go by. I grew up watching L of R and remember that episode. Thanks for posting it. Don
That price for a finished car is a little far fetched, but I never paid more than $ 25 for any of the old model a's, 38 Fords, 37 Dodges, etc that I bought back then. I would be sitting in cl*** and someone would p*** me a note that they knew someone who had a car for sale and would I be interested (I always was ). Sometimes they would even drive the car to my house for that money, but for some reason they always wanted the battery back. If you wanted the battery it was usually $ 5-$6 more. I bought a MINT 50 Ford convertible for $25, sans engine, because the guy bought it for the flathead and didn't need the rest of it. Would I love to have that one right now. Don
DON, Ha Ha Ha, Don you are right, I bought a 32 Ford rodster body & frame for $250. just for the front axle spring etc. then sold the rest to a ****er for $300. boy did I rob him. LOL. Larry
I think you should go back and give the guy his $300 back and reverse the deal. Not very nice of you to take advantage of a guy like that. My one fantasy is to have a time machine and a pocket full of money. Don
Cool,... enjoyed seeing it again,.. I originally posted this on 3/19/12,... Also Wally Parks appears in this episode. Here's the link "Life of Riley" 1956 "Jr. gets a Hot Rod" Co-Staring Wally Parks
Thanks roddin-shack, my Grandmother (RIP) use to tell me, "your just livin the life of Riley!!" God Bless her.
still love how the kid's original '32 roadster that the junk guy hauled off, suddenly turned into a finished '29 roadster on deuce rails at the end when Riley brings it back...
