Hi guys, just started up my new project, a Fibregl*** 41 Willys from a company here in New Zealand, unfortunately said company has now gone bust. The problem I have is that the depth of the scuttle between the windshield and the firewall looks to be quite a bit deeper than standard so the standard piano type hinges won't work. Looking through the forum I might be wrong as several shots show quite a deep scuttle, does anyone have a shot of standard hinges ? For standard hinges the hinge pivot point would need to be some way behind the firewall for the hood to clear everything, or maybe I am just confused ? Does anyone know of a type of hinge standard or otherwise that would fit onto the flat firewall but would still allow the hood to go up and down with out fouling the windshield ? <!-- / message --><!-- edit note --><HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e5e5e5; COLOR: #e5e5e5" SIZE=1> Hopefully the photo's will help some. Distance on the rule shows 6 inches.
Hi. on stock cars the hinge is part of the hood brace welded to the hood. Most gl*** cars use a seperate hinge, that is bolted to the hood and cowl. You would have to recess a small area below your windsheild to do this. Hope the pictures help, Walt
