Anyone know what straight 8 packard engine this is with a firewall #2272-9-15079 and the motor #389719327 ??? Is this the industrial engine?? Thanks in advance!
The "-9" in the VIN represents a 48 continuation car. For a time the 48-9 were one in the same, and perhaps the 1st 49s were left overs. I'm not really hip on all of the "bathtub" Packard production details, but I do recall the -9 meaning. The engine # is nothing I'm familiar with. Too many digits and no letter code. There was a Super 8 (327) and Custom Super 8 (359 or 356). Is that a casting # or the code on the left side of the block?
I am not now where I can look this up for you, but will be later today. If your questions haven't been answered by then, I will post what I find. Ray
