    Maybe.

Thanks dude. I'm going to throw it together and ride it til it breaks or it starts snowing again. Then I'll tear it down and do it up.

Yeah, it's just layed up there. I'll cut it down and tighten the radius. It's a stock Triumph rear fender.

    How about Greasy?

Tonight, I got the new rear end in and Shawn gave me a lesson in bleeding brakes. After a leak in a fitting got tightened up, the rest went smoothly. Everything has been sprayed with the POR prep, which I suspect is similar to Ospho or phosphoric acid. I couldn't apply the POR15, seems we had a cold snap today with frost warnings tonight.

It should be warmer tomorrow and I'll get it done then.

This is how the POR prep leaves the metal after washing it off with water just before painting...

I just noticed how nasty my driveshaft looks. It wasn't installed when I painted the front of the frame. I really should've done it at the same time as the rear, but to be honest, I didn't think about it. I'm going to have to go back and do it after the rear cures. I can't leave it like that.

I got the rear all painted with the POR15. I forgot how much a total pain in the *** this is getting into all the nook and crannies, laying on the floor, getting dripped on and et cetera. My hands are filthy but at least this time, I kept it off my face, haha!

I'm going to let it set up for a day and put my wheels and tires back on tomorrow.

Next on the agenda is getting the bed put together and back on the truck. I still have a couple of pieces to spray with the epoxy primer. I will also need to cut some length off of a piece of 4x8 11gauge steel to make the new bed floor then weld that in once the bed is ***embled.

    Stay tuned for more.

I think Delton has convinced me to paint the driveshaft white.

It's looking good Kevin, I will have to pick your brain later about the do's and dont's of your POR15 job that you did on your frame. I am using you like a test bunny right now though. Actually, now that I think of it... since you are having so much fun with this POR15 do you want to do mine too? :D

As soon as this bumper comes in I am taking my bed down to the blasters and getting the back of my cab in primer like yours. You have inspired me. How long are you going to leave the whole truck in epoxy?

Oh by the way.... As far as both of the trucks go and getting them together.... the race is on.

Wear long sleeves and long pants you don't care about. Wear gloves, but be careful painting upside down with a brush on the bottom of the frame. The paint runs down the brush handle. You'll eventually get a drip somewhere, try to get it somewhere besides your face or hair. It does not come off, it has to wear off skin which takes about two weeks, lol. If you do it on concrete you care about, put down plastic.

I used a 2" brush for the nooks and crannies and a 3" brush for the frame rails and bigger areas. Like anything else paint related, the secret is in the prep. Your surface can be rusty, but it must be free of grease or dirt. I used a grinder with a knotted brush and a corded drill with various shaped brushes.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time on your back in various contorted positions if you're doing your frame. That part really aggravates my rheumatism. Which is why I'm not sleeping right now, lol.

As to the epoxy primer, it's a stepping stone. It'll be there til the whole truck is covered. Then comes filler. Then filler primer. Then paint. I've got to get the bed back on first. Then repair the doors. Then I'll strip the rest of the cab and front fenders for epoxy primer. Long story short, I want it done as soon as is possible, haha. :D But all that stuff takes time.

So today, I got the parking brake lines hooked back up, the tail light wiring harness back in place, the tail lights wired back up, the battery and batt box mounted and hooked up, the wheels and tires back on, and the rear end filled up with gear oil.

I took it down the block for a test drive. The brakes work great, better than before. Acceleration is faster, 3.90 vs. 3.73. And after all was said and done, it looks great and no leaks. Flawless victory.

So now I can get started getting my bed back together and on the truck. Stay tuned.

Today I got the rear panel under the tailgate blasted at the local sandblaster. I couldn't really get at it with my grinder or drill. If the weather holds out, I'll get that and the front bed panel in epoxy primer tomorrow.

Maybe, lol. I'm waiting on 1959Apache to send me some cross sills.

By the way, do you have any photos of how the rear panel under the tailgate mounts up? My old one was not stock and was not mounted to the frame. It was just some flat steel bent on a brake and welded to the bed sides.

The rear sill fits into the stake pockets at the ends, and it has the top front lowered down about 3/4" for the wood to fit in flush. It's obvious once you see it.

The rear sill was welded to the bed sides too, just below the ends of the tailgate, to keep the back of the bed square (the bolts won't hold it tight enough?) A vertical weld about 2" long, starting at the bottom of the sill and going up.

Just got your bumper tonight, I have your stuff ready to roll in a box. I will let you know what a guestimate is on the shipping and will include a check with the remainder. I will try to get that out before the weekend. Trying to close on a house with an awesome garage (4 car), so I have been a wee bit busy the past few weeks. I was waiting on you to send the bumper because it was going to be more expensive

So they were like that stock? I think mine must have been tampered with at some point because they were booger welds. That is good to know if I read that right though so I can get this thing together correctly.

If you need any pictures terd I have mine mostly figured out from scratch like you.
