Ok posted this question in the "question and suggestion" area and it was deleted. So let's try here. There are allot of parts I want to buy on here and for instance E-bay. Things like trunk lids, hoods, fenders and it costs a small fortune to ship. Does anyone have any suggestions on shipping that won't cost me the amount of $ it takes to buy a pros***ute for a weekend? Thanks.

You can look into shipping by bus.
Greyhoung Package Express (GPX) specializes in oversize items at good rates.

If you get a quote on line from Greyhound , add 10% for a fuel surchange that they add at the counter when you pay

Also right before Xmas each year they have on line coupons you can print for 20% off shipping cost

Another one for GreyHound. They are really cheap for things that are large but don't weigh much. Only downfall is they only allow a value of up to 300$.

$sum $fun I don't know about Fedex but UPS wanted $872 to ship a Caddy hood from MN to M***. The hood was $125! That's nuts! Thanks for the Greyhound suggestions guys I'll look into it.

    Greyhound has size limits 30x47x82.
You can set up a Greyhound account and prepare all the paperwork before you go to Greyhound. That way you have the full price and timing.

Just remember that Greyhound does not service many remote areas. Here in southern Vt the nearest terminal is Albany NY which is forty miles away. Also, many members on here have had some bad experiences with damage to sheet metal pieces. Probably search "Greyhound" and you can find those old threads.

Something to remember for those living off the beaten path. Greyhound's closest freight location is 100 miles from me which puts a damper on the savings when compaired to having delivered to the door. But for what it is worth I've had a couple of transmissions shipped to me, they both came fast and in good shape, plus the savings justified the drive.

I buy and sell a lot of small parts to and from Canada - never use UPS because the brokerage fee is huge and they try to bill you (or your customer) after delivery.
Use post office either way for small parts, no brokerage fee.
