Thats a local guy who i see at shows pretty regularly, tho i don't know him personally, but i might be able to track him down or at least direct your ?s to someone who might know, what are you looking to find out?, ihave seen the car up close numerous times i might be able to help, I've heard the body and grill shell were from a car that appeared in the oakland roadster show not sure about the year but i think it was some whare from 55'-60sumthin.
"Made my Pants tighter"... No kidding! This car is so close to what I have had in mind for my own coupe! I'm planning on running a wider 10 spoke wheel and tire combo in front with brakes. And quite a bit of it will be made up of newer parts, but DAMN that thing gives me a chubbie! I am planning on running 10" wide black wall pie crust in back and already have the SJ 327 waiting to go in. I've got a set of fenderwell headers that will be run in white paint. Anyway, enough of my rambling.... What I would like to find out is the depth of the channel and exactly how much chop this car has, (I think the proportions are perfect), What is the seating position like and how tall of a guy he thinks could fit in this thing. By the way this is where I'm at with mine. Been working 12 hr shifts 7 days a week...so I have not made much progress lately.
I Loved that car but dont let the old wheels fool you. This car has al the bells and whisels you can get. Looking uder it made my wallet run from me. It was awesome.
Are you saying this was the pick-up with the white star on the door? "Take their gas,Nuke their ass!" Car ???????
You guys got to be kidding me... Just because it has a $750 Currie housing and axles it's a high dollar car? I think Mike Smith at California Hot Rods had something to do with the build... meaning it was his friends car, when it was a truck. The frame is your basic 2 x 4 square tube frame, cut down to resemble a Model A frame in the front, with Model A frame horns welded on... I don't think TIG welds need to be assocoated with high dollar... people are getting better at building these things, skill levels are going up... and POS RAT RODS are going to be a thing of the past real soon... with some guys either stepping up or stepping out (of the hobby). Sam.
Right on Sam, it is a killer chassis, I really dug it with a truck cab on it. Cant wait to see what he does with it in coupe form.
In that post from awhile back, the guy that was supossedly a good friend of the owners said that the truck cab got dicked up, and the coupe body was only temporary so he could drive it around. It was gonna be a truck again if I remember right. Drew
