My neighbor had this little Plymouth tucked away since 1968. I guess you might say he lost interest! It was 99% complete but the stock six motor was apart and had no interest to me. I picked up the 241 Red Ram and had my engine builder friend do his magic. Purrs like a kitten and we added some more horses. Now that the car and motor are under one roof it's time to get started. As you can see the paint job is already done. I'll post more pictures and info as I go. Jim

Nice Car Jim. Hopefully I can see the finished car in person. I live on Otisco Lake, not really far from you.

    Good luck with the build.

This is going to be one great build. What other plans do you have?

My only plans at the start is to keep it full fendered with the original paint. Wire wheels are modified Mopar that came with my old Ford roadster. Transmission, manual 4 speed and I'm thinking Ford 9 inch rear axle. Not sure about that stock front axle setup yet. Still in the thinking stages right now. Jim

    Jim,

I will be following your progress. Am building a 33 Dodge coupe (see my thread on the message board). I haven't posted in a month since I promised my wife a new kitchen and she called in that marker. I should be back at it in a couple of weeks.

As for as rear end choice, a 72-74 Mavrick 8" should slide right in if you are not committed to cutting and resplining a 9". If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. walt

    Hi Walt,
If you want to eat, The Kitchen comes first! As I'm just getting started, I'm open to any ideas. I'll look into the Mavrick 8 inch. Don't want my wheels outside the fenders. Never done a Mopar, Just old Fords. This is all New to me. Jim

very cool I have a 34 dodge I've never been able to start on..I admit thay are cool cars... I have it for sale in the car section ..even a 331 hemi...keep us posted on your progress..
I have a question..I see your car is the same way... why is the outside door lock only on the passenger side.. no key lock on the driver side?? I have often wondered this..my 34 body is all orginal to & its like yours..except its a 4 door sedan..

Hey Thanks!, I sold my old stock 40 Ford Standard Coupe and was real sorry to see it go! A month or so later my neighbor told me about this old Plymouth he had and wanted to sell.
What 40 Ford Coupe! The Plymouth is just something a little different. Picture this old baby in it's original old paint with that Hemi hidden under the hood! I get damp just thinking about it!

I have a 34 Dodge pickup and it has only a door lock on the passenger side. My understanding is that it was done that way so you wouldnt be standing in traffic to unlock the door. Also the door handle lock works cool. The door handle spins around and around when the door is "locked". The lock cylinder actually works opposite of ones thinking. The locksmith that made a key for mine thought my lock cylinder was faulty, until I showed him how it works.

The other reason I heard for the lock being on the passenger side was that the gentlemen always opened the door for the ladies.

This is cool and I'm subscribed!

you open the door for the women and they reach over to open the door for you to get in, works that way for me normally

My Build is underway and I ran into a snag with my stock 241 Red Ram exhaust manifolds. The Pass. side is center dump. Drivers side is rear dump. Rear dump hits my steering box. I'm in need of another center dump for the drivers side. Can any of you guys help me out. I can offer cash or gladly trade my real nice rear dump. Thanks, Jim jehawver@gmail.com or PM

  26. Great little project! I've signed on to watch. Wish my neighbour would lose interest in his passion...playing the fricken drums...
