    .
I don't need this, I don't have room for it if it only lifts rear-ends.
I can get it for $100. It's capacity is 3500lbs.

I can justify picking it up if there are any interesting mods that can make it more useful.

[*]What is the proper name for this style?

      Thanks.

  2. I've been looking for one of those for a long time. 100.00 would make me happy.

Modify the ends of the lifting arms with a adjustable width crossbar and it could be used to lift front or rear by the frame.

Put a plate on the ends and tie them together and use it to lift motorcycles or ATVs.

Put a seat on the ends and use it to help fat chicks get in the car when you are leaving the bar....... I wish I could get one for $100.

    cool.
can you easily vision a single universal attachment for front and rear frames, but also for unibody or front wheel drive cars?
i can put my time in elsewhere, unless this can pull-off.

  6. Looks like it would be handy as Hell.

Unless you change out a lot of rear ends, it seems this would not be a bargain, even at $100. It would take up a lot of real estate in a shop.

Yeah, if I had room to store that I'd consider $100 quite worthwhile, can see many places it'd work better than a floor jack.

Someone out there who works on FWD vehicles or late-model RWD cars where the powertrain comes out the bottom could probably fab a nice little cradle for dropping powertrains/subframes on it, a round tube to fit in the axle saddles, some supports, something to allow tilting/maneuvering the unit as it's lowered.

Likewise maybe someone who needs to pull an engine out of a 914/Boxster or other rump-engine VW/Porchie product or Corvair.

  9. I suppose if you only jack up one car and let back down 6 months later, that wouldn't make much sense to have around.

I had two of them. Worked great but took up too much room and damages front A frames. I threw them out 12 years ago.
They are good for lifting the side of a frame car but be careful, it will flip it over in a second.

I just bought a attachment that goes on my floorjack that would allow it to lift almost any car by the frame. It is 3" square tubing in the center, then a piece of 2 1/2" tubing slides in to that on each end and makes the width adjustable. On the ends of the 2 1/2" tubing there are "pads" with adjustable height risers. The "pads" remind me of the ones on the ends of a two-post lift.

Awe, I was looking for something like this last fall.
Can you post a source or product name for me to look-up?
I'm interested in a close-up of the height adjustable pad.

Used one years ago at a shop I worked at part time. Very useful pierce of equipment and I'd be all over one for $100. As far as storage goes there is always as car or truck around to slide it under until it's needed.

the last pic is the trick. i put 4ft 2x4's behind it's wheels as i tilted the planks backwards..
that way the jack would be stopped and have a shorter drop onto soft ground.
