Yea, that thought crossed my mind but I am not really wanting to drill into such a rare intake. If you do it your way make sure you have a baffle underneath to avoid sucking oil up into PCV valve. How big of a hole do you have to have for the Offy breathers?
I really like the suggestion of Tommy's about the distribution block for a vacuum, I am lookin at a moon block log but have found what they have for current cars as far as a vacuum block.
The early breathers like mine had 2 holey metal plates that sandwiched a foam rubber baffle that always went to shit over the years. I go to the grocery store and buy the green scotch bright pot scrubbers. I cut out enough strips to fill in between the metal parts...3 or 4 strips? It does not break down in petroleum products. This was a quick mockup for the PCV valve. What you can't see is that this breather is epoxied shut above where the PCV plugs into it so the air has to come from the crankcase with the air entering through the other breather and the oil fill tube breather.
I still have my previous edelbrock valve covers to test this whole thing out, in the event it works check out these valve covers you can get the script but the breathers and PCV are kind of hidden from site, I have a polished firewall, some people thought at first glance that I have two motors when its shined up!
