    Automotive artist with an unusual request

    My name is Del Swanson and I'm losing my brother-in-law to Cancer. We are a car family with mostly old Fords ranging from 1937 to 1967. We respect and understand old cars and hot rods. Mike, my brother-in-law, has always loved Cobras and wanted to build one someday.
    I'm asking that someone would let Mike drive his or her Cobra. I know that is a lot to ask from a complete stranger, but Mike is one of the best human beings I've ever met. If someone will let mike drive their Cobra, I will do a cartoon illustration of their car. To see my work, check out http://swansonartworks.blogspot.com.
    Mike is running out of time at 51 years of age with only about a month left to be with us. I'm doing this as a suprise because I don't want to get his hopes up if no one is willing to do this for him. We live in the Milwaukee, WI area.I know this is a traditional site, but if you know anyone who owns a Cobra, Please contact me at delswanson@wi.rr.com or 1-414-813-7947

    Thank you from all of his family, Del Swanson

    Moderators, I apologize if this is in the wrong place. If it is, please move it.

    Del, I don't have a Cobra and I'm thousands of miles away. I feel your pain brother and wish I could help. If I could, I most certainly would. About all I can do is give you a bump.

    A good friend of mine has one, here in kansas city MO.....Under the circumstances, I am sure he would be willing to let him drive it, But we are kinda a ways apart. If you don't find anything closer to you, And want to travel to KC let me know and i will talk it over with him.
    Surely one of our members closer to you has one or knows of one that can make this happen for you.....

    Hey, Del;

    Another avenue to try, is: http://www.saac.com .

    There are some big hearted folks there, & like everywhere else, equally big-talking-asses.

    I'd drop a line to the webmaster, explaining what you'd like, & also to Rick Kopec. He may be able to help. (At the very least, it's make a very good story for their club mag).

    I used to be a member for quite a few years, until they unapologeticly priced me out of the club, due to a change in their business model. Works for them, not me. :) .

    Hope someone can help. It'll be quite a ride.

    Del, I am so sorry to hear about your brother in law. I wish I knew someone locally that had a Cobra. I hope you find someone, buddy!

    Hey, Del;

    If you can find someone to help the 2 of you out, sure would like to hear about it, & maybe see some footage. Bet your bil will have a smile, that will *never* leave. & that'd be nice.

    Don't know anyone in your area, however, check around for exotic car rentals in your area. My boss just did this a few months back. Rented a cobra for the day for her husband. They had corvettes, lamborghini's etc... for rent as well.

    Just a thought, best wishes for your family.

    Try the Make A Wish Foundation. They can probably help.

    Hey Del.

    Prayers for Mike as he struggles with this sickness. I hope someone local can help you out.

    It is cool that you are doing what you can for Mike. What a difficult thing for anyone to fight.

    Keep us updated!
