5window, I told them I was sending them back due to terrible fit up and they just said okay. I'm going with Bradley floor pans, the guy called me and seemed like customer service is something he appreciates, was honest and even spoke well of Macs. I wrote Macs an email asking them about the $95 freight charge for two floor pans and a rocker and got not response. Everything they sold me like the water pump, gaskets for the heater assy. And hardware kits was from suppliers I already use ie Speedway, Bob Drake, etc. Like I said before I wasn't impressed, their panels were terrible and the rocker is an inch short in every corner. I won't be dealing with them. I dropped $854 as a first time customer and more than half of it is going back. I wish I would have caught the posts in the Shoebox forums before I gave them my money. But they are good about sending me emails to let me know they have 15% off light bulbs.
I'd say you have a valid beef. And that freight seems pretty high. I've only bought Model A stuff and it's all been good. Though to be honest, a rear inner trunk panel needed a bunch of fitting-but i could determine if that's cause my A had been hotrodded before I got it, or the panel was wonky.
Just made another two orders over the weekend and voila...all 15 items IN STOCK and on the way....an I am talking about some small, obscure stuff. THANKS, Mac's!
I'm out west and shipping sometimes takes longer than I would like but you know how that goes when you are waiting for parts, lol, Put juice brakes on my model A and order some parts from them and got a 1940 master cylinder . Finally went to bleed the brakes and couldn't get things to work right. Looked under car and big puddle of brake fluid. Paid top dollar for the American made Wagner product and it was spraying fluid right out the A in Wagner cast into the side of cylinder. What a Freak thing, I pulled cylinder and they made it right. Good co. to deal with in my opion. YRUHOT.....Doug
MACs also ships to Europe without any problems and even refunds return shipping costs for defective parts. Huge inventory for multiple classic Ford models.
Mac's is the best. Great tech support too when you need to order something but can't find it online with their catalog. Fast shipping, quality product, excellent service and a fair price.
They kinda boned me with my last order. I ordered a fender patch for my squarebird and they didnt have it in stock (no suprise...how many people are building them right?) they told me 3-4 weeks...no problem. After 6 weeks I call them and they say evrything is there (thanks for the call btw), I had ordered other parts that were in stock but waited to pick them up until my patch was there. I specifically asked if the patch had arrived, they ensured me it was there. I drive to Mac's, having to cross the border, and big suprise they cant find the patch...the older gentlemen at the counter was about as helpful as an asshole on my elbow. Told me another 3-4 weeks until they get it, so I asked if it was ordered in the first place and he said he wasn't sure. I'm not too happy about the whole thing.
I am ABM - Anybody But Macs'. They have poor quality - made in india! give me the mexican junk over indian junk anyday! They aren't upfront about the items in stock - i call in my orders and sometimes i am ordering just a couple items, later i learn that one of them isn't in stock so i have to go to another supplier and wind up paying twice the shipping because i could've ordered both items from a single supplier. I have receieved promo codes for shipping and have applied them to an order - again, this is verbal with the sales staff - and have had the promo code accepted along with an order only to have shipping added to the invoice/creditcard after getting off the phone and when i complained to customer service they said too bad and the promo code didn't apply and if i scrolled down to read the fine print at the bottom of the email promo i would have been aware that it didn't apply - it was my fault! I have dealt with them for long enough that i have come to realize that they just want one thing - your money.
Like thunderbirdesq said ,I also am a few miles from macs. Great compamy better people, NEVER a problem in over 20 years. They are 200% ers
OK...time to chime in on mac's. out of 4 orders, they didn't have in stock 3 orders and i had to cancel (4th was just 5 minutes ago). they have nothing in stock and its always 3 weeks out blah blah blah. If you want sheet metal, go to ems, same price and they actually have it in stock. Mac's gets their sheet metal from them. when i ordered $500 worth of floor braces from Mac's, they didn't have in stock and said it would be 3 weeks out. I cancelled order, called ems (who they get these aprts from) and they shipped in two days, same prioce 1/2 the shipping. Not really happy with them...I will always find an alternatine b4 i call them and it's usually cheaper and shipping is always MUCH less!! Dennis carpenter is alot cheaper for rubber parts and they actual;ly have what you want. Ok...vent over...I'm better now.
I placed an order with Macs a few weeks back for a bunch of small stuff. Called around 8pm. The lady confirmed the part description against the part number I gave her for each item, and also let me know whether or not it was in stock. Everything was. Went down two weekends ago on a Saturday morning to pick everything up. Guy behind the desk walked into the back room, came back out a second later with all my parts already all together in a box. I haven't had time to use all the parts I bought yet, but so far, I'm pleased with Macs. No problems with ordering or stock availability.
Like a few of the other guys I live a few miles from Macs. Always pleased with the service and products I recieve
I've ordered sheet metal and small odds and ends several times and everything was in stock and arrived faster than estimated. The customer service was very friendly and helpful everytime to. If I can't find it local I have no problems paying what Mac's asks.
My last order from Mac's was clalled in a week ago today. I called at 8:30am and asked if I could pick up the 17 items later in the morning, as a friend had just called me to tell me he was driving up (about an hour's drive). We arrived at Macs about 11:15am and everything was waiting for me. I've been buying from them since 1984 and have never had any issues with them.
This was my experience as well. Placed the order online. 3 days later they send me an email stating that one of the parts I ordered was out of stock. I replied a few hours later to cancel that item and ship the rest. 3 days after that email I get a shipping confirmation. 6 days to ship is not acceptable in my book. I doubt I"ll use them again....
ordered some parts for my shoebox about a week and a half ago, everything was in stock and recieved the order within a reasonable time. have ordered numerous times from them over the last 10-12 years and have always had good service from them.
I have used Macs for quite a few years to order parts for a variety of projects in our shop.... Have always had great a experience with them...... Parts are on time and of decent quality.... You have to know that when you are working on cars that are 40 or 50 years old that the parts you order are not gonna just "fall" into place.... Sometimes you have to massage them a little bit...... If it was easy everyone would do it...... Just sayin..........
I ordered a trunk mat for a 40 coupe and when it got here it looked like was dry rotted and cracked all to hell right out of the box. I e-mailed customer service and they didn't even have the good taste to reply. I will not be sending any more orders to that fly by night outfit, I would say they should go pack sand as they sell crap products and have NO customer service.
I just tried to order stuff. Backorder this, backorder that. Simple brake stuff. Went to Dearborn instead
ordered a sh1t load of parts including a tail gate for my 39pu the day before the huricain was told some parts out of stock 2-3 weeks but all arrieved in the uk in 2 weeks i call that great service even for you yanks ha ha. Hope my next order is as smooth although $600 for shipping it shud be.Happy thanks giving to you all across the pond
I ordered a bunch of stuff for my A and my Merc. Ordered a headliner for the Merc out of the catalouge. When it arrived,it was totally the wrong color.(order was placed by phone). I called back and explained the situation. I was dirrected to the upholstery department, and had to wait until a Monday to speak with someone. I did,and explained again. Seems the colors for the headliners are different in the book vs. online . When I chose the color,it wasn't sitting on the shelf, and had to be made. Anyways, i was pleasantelly surprised that a new headliner would be made for me,and that I would be able to ship the one I had back on they're nickle. I also received numerous phone calls about what was going on,and low and behold, the headliner worked out great. I have only positive things to say for their customer service, and will definetally be using them in the future. And- I'm on the left coast.....
Has anybody oreder anything since they were bought out? I've had 2 buddies tell me they have been rather disorganized since the sale. One buddy was told his oreder was ready for pick up and drove down to pick it up, he stood in the showroom for over 2 hours while they tried to find his order. My other buddy called to confirm his order was there waiting for pick up, took an hour and a half on the phone before they found anything. Anybody else having problems?
The past 2 orders (Dec and Feb) 1/2 the items out of stock. Normal "A" parts.... latches, decklid bracket, etc. Didn't receive any parts after 3 weeks on the most recent order and called them up. They say "Debbie" called me and said I wanted all the parts shipped at once. Uh no, no call from any Debbie, and no I don't want to pay individual freight on back-order releases. Haven't had the pleasure of ordering sheetmetal from them, but similar issues with Howell's, so the end result is the same...... bad fit, bad communication, and delayed parts. Problem is, the "good old days" weren't any better. Some things just never change......
Check the Ford Barn, lots of dissatisfied customers as of late, but most of it seems to stem from long waits and high shipping costs, and just being cranky old men.
just got $800 in parts from them this week. the model A tudor rear garnish mouldings were NOT in stock. i said i would wait and order latter, she ( Tonia) talked me in to ordering them because they would be restocking soon. they came a DAY latter. door locks to window cranks and door latches, all available.
