After dinner on Thursday night (about 3 hours at the restaurant) and cruising from shop to shop yesterday I wished that I had a tape recorder running as the stories were priceless. Isky was talking about Ed Winfield and Louis Meyer, Dave Zueschel, Keith Black etc and not second hand stories--real first person stuff. I am lucky enough to have met Meyer and Black but hearing some of the stories from Isky dating back to the start of hot rodding as we know it was awesome.

48 Chubby nailed it. Ed don't need no stinkin' papers...I saw him at the last Indy PRI show some years ago, out in the pouring rain walking the Gasoline Alley Tour. Talked to Jim Deist too, wow, those guys were and are SO huge to me. I love racing the way it was back then! Drag racing wouldn't be the sport it is without the "cam wars", and the lives guys like Deist and Simpson saved.

He came to one of our club meetings a few years ago. He had sponsored some of our members back in the day. The stories he told were great. And one of the nicest men around. God bless him

I met him at the NHRA museum one night when his car club was having a party. Got him to sign the ammo box off my Boeing Bomber Bike. I thought we'd talk about Hot Rods, but instead ended up talking about all the ailments that us ol' farts get...

I have a special place set aside for his signature on my dash right next to Norms and right over his decal. Hope to connect with him this Fathersday.

A month ago I was wishing I could someday meet Ed Iskenderian, and then last night I did along with about 90 other guys! He came to the community college for a meet and greet, and we were lucky enough to spend 5 hrs. visiting with Isky and learning all those great tales of early hotrodding!
It's an evening I wont ever forget!
Found a place for his autograph too!

He knew so many people who are legends in hotrod history, and rmembers all the conversations and how they got where they were! He also knows so many interesting stories about how things developed within the automotive industry, and the hotrod specialty industry! I really need to write myself notes about what he told us before I forget it soon! His memory is better at 90 than mine is at 62!
