Kiwi hot rodding website

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Greg Stokes, Jul 8, 2005.

  1. For those of you interested in how we do it in New Zealand, you may like to visit the forum at www.nzhotrodmag.co.nz

This has been like a HAMB for alot of Kiwi hot rodders, 190 or so members out of 3000 - 4000 hot rodders in a population around 4 million. There is also a gallery of images and also for magazine and apparel collectors you can buy the magazine and/or t shirt and hat.

There are fellow HAMBERS on there also including Alfster and Cruisin. So drop by and check it out.

  2. I haven't checked it out yet but I'm sure I'll be impressed. What you guys down there can accomplish, considering the scarcity of project material and the high cost of parts, etc., just amazes me.

    :)

  5. It amazes me what we get up to as well! We have a staggering number of AMerican cars on our roads sometimes with most guys owning collections of cars like my boss Garth Hogan.

With the exchange rate and shipping logisitics it can be quite a drama sourcing parts and cars but we have a huge number of reputable rod shops and car and parts importers that take a lot of the hard work away.

As for cars, I think we are right up with todays rodding trends be it hi tech or traditional. And there is an increasing number of traditional cars turning up too! As for talented guys well there are tonnes of them! Despite the coolere weather NZ isnt too bad a place to live - we have some full on summers full of car events!

You are taking the exchange rate into account.... it might be a little less then 1.35 can't remember due to the joy of a company car, I was however unimpressed when the pump was at $70 and still rising on Sunday arvo....

  11. You New Zelanders have good taste I have had three of my cars shipped out your way!!!

  13. Hey Graverobber? Who is your buddy down here? Its a small country, may know him or know of him.

Barn Fresh Gal, what cars of yours are down here? I know w few guys that have been bringing alot of cars back from your area.

Thanks for the feedback on the www.nzhotrodmag.co.nz website. Its early days yet but the forum and gallery are really gaining momentum. Paul and Liz Grace took over the New Zealand Hot Rod Magazine over a year ago and they have made some impressive changes, including getting the website up and running.

Prior to that the magazine had been edited by Rob and Owen Campbell since 1967?! The magazine is now computer designed, all color and is up to 60 something pages. For anyone from overseas, it is a great read to keep absolute tabs on the NZ rodding scene.

We also have a very interesting hot rod history in New Zealand and NZ Hot Rod is right in to do***enting it. Should anyone wish to find out anymore please let me know or visit the website or even better, log on to the forum.

As for gas, well I guess the government are going to keep taxing us arent they? I guess we just need to work harder to play harder!

Johnathan Smiley. He's a bodyman and super cool guy. He's got the most balls out of everyone I know. He's the type of guy that if he had $50 in his pocket, he would hop a train and go somewhere for a month- working, staying in hostels etc... and no worries. He's very courageous :)
