We are gettin ready to pull & paint the motor (283) and make the firewall all purdy in my 55 Chevy,I know Chevy Orange is usually the color of choice, however I am looking for something a little different.

For now we are getting the brakes converted to disc, suspension dropped, and the engine area nice and cleaned up.

The color of the car is primer grey and will stay that way for awhile,no cash for paint this year for sure!

Steel wheel color is not decided yet neither but leaning towards black with the www's?

So,I want some opinions on a little different engine color? or is the standard ole chevy orange the way to go?

    any ideas or suggestions .....

    Thanx,xtralow

Ewwwwwww a good Tartan is soooooo ***y!

Chrysler red is pretty. I like it.
Black is easy to "keep" clean.
    White is interesting.
LIME GREEN would be fun.....like a big booger.

Nah, follow your brave heart and go plaid.:D

You can't get much better than a nicely detailed copper and polished aluminum engine against a black firewall...

Hey Goober, you got a pic of the other side of that 302? Im having trouble with spark plug wire routing too close to steering and would like to see what you got going on the other side there.

  16. I painted the SBC in my 54 Avocado Green! Epoxy appliance paint from the harware store. Held up great 4 years now. If Avocado is too manly, you can get it in Black,White and Almond:)

Maroon. Just enough contrast but won't show the leaks.

Ever since I was about 7 years old, I always wanted to have a Hertz Yellow motor. Now that I have one, I never want another engine that color!

  25. Platinum Silver Flake!....the old '77 Lincolns and 81 Olds Toronada had silvers that had ground gl*** for sparkle....I think the Lincoln color was called Diamond Flare......How high could a pint be?;) Use Delstar acrylic enamel and hardener -2 even coats.....not too much thickness needed here.....
