Custom Front & Rear Windshield Gaskets?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alfredo, Nov 14, 2011.

  1. I have a 1962 Buick Special. The front and rear windshields had tonnage of chrome trim that was completely shot. I have removed the gl*** and the old rotten rubber. Since fixing the channels and painting them, I want to put the gl*** back in.

The problem is I don't want to use chrome trim anymore and the only gaskets I can find require the trim. They are deeply molded to accept the trim. Is there any way of making windshield gaskets or having a gl*** shop come out and make them? I would prefer the first option of me making it, but have no experience.

Thanks for any direction you guys can give.

    Cheers!

Au-Ve-Co in TN makes several different profiles of gl*** retaining rubber, some plain, some with locking strip like you see on many early Chevy/GMC AD pickups and others.

  3. Thanks Pasadena! Great resource.

  4. Have looked at a few sites and talked to some local shops. The local shops look at me like I'm crazy and I am probably not looking right on the websites.

I am trying to find a supplier for custom rubber and molding for the front and rear windshield of my 62 buick special. I have seen various cars with chopped roofs and custom rubber/molding, but can't seem to find a resource to buy it or how to do it rather.

Anyone have any leads or tips?
