I put up this database of old GM Parts catalogs for your part number identification pleasure. I hope you like it. www.gmpartswiki.com - Ian
Sorry about that. The main page is empty. You have to click on Search or Browse. More manuals coming soon, mostly truck stuff.
Added the 1946-1972 truck book published in 1979, and the 1955 - 1966 truck book published in 1966. Also a standard parts book.
Had some old GM parts and really didn't think this would help identify them. I WAS WRONG. Thanks for taking the time to compile this. It will be most helpful to me and others.
You're welcome! I'm always surprised how often there's a hit. I've found some interesting interchangeability too. - Ian
Thanks,, Unbeleivable. Likely I will wear this website out as I am way overstocked with NOS GM parts. Bookmarked for sure. Rod
Can anyone tell me how to find a part number by it's nomenclature??? I'm interested in finding the original GM part number for 'sun visor anti-rattle grommets'. These are the tip grommets that were used on all 1959-1962 GM convertibles. The sun visor rests in the 'U' bracket on the rear view mirror. The tips were changed in the 1963 years. I can't seem to have any success in finding with all the part numbers listed. It's like looking for the needle in the haystack. Thanks
They use funny words sometimes. They called it a sunshade. http://www.gmpartswiki.com/w/sunshade rod anti rattle grommet I just started poking with fewer words til I came across their preferred word and kept trying stuff... I can't find one that looks like the 1959-1962, there are some earlier http://www.gmpartswiki.com/gmpart?gmpartno=4559950 and some later that appear to have been subs***uted into that date range http://www.gmpartswiki.com/gmpart?gmpartno=5711137 I have another book I will be scanning soon. I can check it when I get home.
didn't se any of the "Master Parts Catalogs" in your stash, I have a 1929-1951, and a 1938 - 1957 plus or minus a few years. I found them a valuable ***et when selling parts online.
I also have a Chevrolet parts catalog for the years 1933-1960.Couldn't download it cause it's about 4 inches thick.Has illustrations so if anyone is really stuck I can take individual pics and e-mail them.I can't post pics here for some reason.
Off Topic, non HAMB freindly car, but trying to figure out what body style this is as I have the NOS front bumber cover strip for it from some parts purchased 10 years ago from a body shop. 80-81 X W/IMP STR (VE5)....468493.... 15.25 STRIP FRT BPR PROTV I know it is an 80-81 Chevy as I found it on the Wiki, but have no clue what body style the letters infront of the part number stand for. Can any GM guru help me out with this? Thanks Rod
If you ever find the time, maybe you could also do a database for ID'ing the old Kent-Moore tool #'s...
Sorry this is so late, but that's X for X Body which includes Chevy Citation and Buick Skylark a**** other icky cars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_X_platform_(1980)
Need some help from someone. I have searched the GM parts database and also spent several hours trying to cross reference a NOS starter plunger. So far no luck. Delco Remy part number 1932079. Anyone have a clue on this one as I am lost? Rod
