In NZ the S10 is as rare as "rocking horse ****", but we trip over old hilux's and L200 Mitsy's The L200 makes a good frame swap down under, the beauty of Jap frame is they're good for 400,000 miles but the bodies are biodegradable Here You can pick up a rotten one for $100 but add $500 for the diesel option. I've been running a Mitsy 4D56 Diesel engine for 2 years now on Waste Engine Oil [ blended with 15% Gasoline ] Thats where you get the economy with FREE FUEL
You can't walk through a junkyard around here without stepping in rocking horse ****, I mean tripping over an s10.
If you can't afford to buy a daily driver, how can you afford to build one? I have $3,000 in my on the cheap built car. I could have found a decent daily driver for less. My on the cheap built car has a modern frame (Dakota EFI V6 5 speed) that gets 20 mph, but it took 3 years to build, and it was not an "easy" build. If your thinking an AD Chevy pickup, upgrade to disc brakes, add an efi V6, and a 5 speed ( buy a car or truck with a good drive train) and drive it. Would be the cheapest and fastest build, short of finding a running truck to tune up and drive. Probably the best answer is to finish the Plymouth and drive it, I ***ume your 1/2 way there with it. If you cant afford to spend 2000 on one that runs you definately cant afford to build one so what are you smoking.
I just think the truck would lose alot of its cool old personality if you were to put a late model "metric" frame under it... And it would be less valuable too...
Only thing left on the plymouth is the chop and paint. But I didn't really wanna have to drive it every day.....
