So I asked a freind of mine who is an artist to paint a picture of my dad with his old 32 about a month ago. It was based on a picture i had of him and the car when it was being built but wanted to clean it up a bit and have the car finished. She really blew me away with the painting and was so excited to show dad last sunday!! So I get a call from dad today and he is still floored by the fact i had the painting done, he asked me how hard would it be to find his old car? He said he has had nothing but that car on his mind since i showed him the painting, said he spent over four hours last night digging through files to find the folder he kept on the car with every single part it took to build it. He wants to find the car and see what it looks like now and if it by chance was for sale well I think he would probably be very interested. So I am asking for your help, this is the car he spent years building and created the burning desire for hotrods in my life. If anyone knows or has heard of any history of this car please let me know.

    The specifics:
    1932 roadster,
Black henry body and black henry chassis with masive homemade x member
    32 pickup firewall
chrome superbell round tube drop axle
    four bar front suspension
    full chrome jag rearend
327 small block chevy with 4 speed

I know that sounds like every other 32 roadster built in the 70's and 80's. According to my dad he sold the car in the early 80's at the street rod nationals in columbus Ohio to fire fighter who lived in Dayton. He said he was contacted a few years later by an insurance company because the car had been rearended and they were trying to find some parts he had hand made. Thats all the info I can think of at the moment so any help from yall is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

I hope it's out there, the firewall and x member should help ID it. Bob

The painting is the first image posted in the initial post. My friend will also be selling a limited run (50) of prints of this painting.

Very kool read. Glad to hear that you found it, If it's out there it most likely can be found by the "HAMB Missing Rod Squad" ;). Keep us updated and congrats to you and your dad.

Just got off the phone with the fellow hamber who had the info. amazing story, he has basically done all the work for the two previous owners on the car since dad sold it and It is as close to unchanged as can be expected!! The car has a new owner and was recently shown at an indoor show in the dayton area this month, still working on getting the new owners contact info to see if the car is or might be for sale in the future. I will reveal the entire story and history of the car as i was told in the very near future and is def one of the neatest true hotrod stories I have heard in awhile. If anyone has any pics they think may be this car please post, it has been in the dayton ohio area for the last 30 years and I am told was driven every day that it wasnt raining or snowing.

I remember seeing that car with the different firewall in the Dayton area about 25-30 years ago. I remember the owner too, was(is) he a lawyer?

Great story! Fantastic painting too. Sounds like a cool car, would be really neat to buy it back. I bet it would be worth quite a bit more now than when your dad sold it originally. FYI, that's a '33 or '34 pickup firewall. Deuce pickups have the same firewall as cars.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys, like i said I plan on telling you all the history of the last 30 years of the car very very soon and what a story it is!! As for the critique on the painting, well I will take the high road and just smile because my dad and I love it and really thats all that matters. I will leave you guys tonight with some picks that were just emailed to me of the car at a show a couple of weeks ago, enjoy.

Great looking car. Looks like someone is taking care of her anyway.

I just met Mary yesterday at the 25th Silver Anniversary Mecum Auction in Indy. Very cool lady and she has some beautiful paintings and posters. She was gracious enough to let me take her photo and I bet she wouldn't mind my sharing.

Her work has to be seen in person. The photos do not do justice to the play on light, reflections and shadows. There were multiple artists there all with different techniques, but I really liked looking at Mary's paintings in person. They had "feeling".
