Nice project but Please rethink the "No spring" thing. I don't think you'll be happy.

That's a terrible idea. The Tbucket was simply put just built wrong if the front suspension didn't work.

If you were a good friend of mine I would tell you:

"Are you serious? Don't be a dumb***, you need a front spring... and sell that ugly grille to a rat rodder who needs "something different" and use the money buy a nice Model A shell."

But I don't know you at all so I'll just say:

"I think you need to rethink a few things." :)

Do whatever it takes to get that tie rod behind the axle!

  6. I had a couple deals on Model A grills fall through and the ones I found looked far worse than the Terraplane grill. Actually had a guy trying to buy the grill last week. Nothin' is final 'til it's final! As for the front spring it can still go either way :)
A Model A grille shell would be both suiting and attractive.....if I can find one.

  7. The tie rod in front idea I based on some old 50's era stock cars I saw in a junkyard and on what this guy was doing

    X 2........listen to experience........;)

  9. Thanks for the advise/warnings.
I want The Ghost to be made of parts I find locally (like the grille etc) and to be inexpensive to build but I DON'T want it to look completely ridiculous like
    This thing

and other Low Budget Rods that I see on the internet and in car lots. It's a damned fine line in this hobby.

  10. Mercury wheels cleaned and sanded down. Still need sandblasting to removing remaining paint.

x 3 on the advice against the "no spring" idea. Without something to absorb the energy from road irregularities, something will break/someone can get hurt real bad.

  12. Note taken.
Will b.o.l.o. for a short spring and some perches.
I actually got the rigid axle idea from some old drag cars I had seen locally which just had an I Beam welded under the frame.

  15. After a winter break it's back to work on The Ghost! The goal for this summer is to mount the front and rear and have it rolling.

Wow...I think you are on the wrong board. that's as ugly as it gets.

  20. Lol Good Ole Hambism strikes again! I expect no less ;)
I started this thread on this board years ago and intend to follow thru until the project is done. When I decide to park it in your garage I will ask your opinion on how it looks.
Now feel free to send out a distress call to the "Traditional Rambo's" to pop in with insults and hi-faluting 1950's hot rod lingo. The Ghost is the most 'traditional' car here. Built from real junkyard parts by amateurs just like in the "*****in' days". If you don't like it don't ask to ride shotgun.

  21. Got the body channelled like I wanted it. I believe I will go with the A radiator shell instead of the Terraplane. [IMG]

  22. Added some 1957 Ford hubcaps
Mulling over the idea to Brush Paint it a Dark Blue

  23. Forward. Got tires today.

  24. Going with a dark blue paint job and small running boards. I declare The Ghost to be a "Ford Nodor Highboy Roadster".

  25. Picked up two Model T Touring car doors today. One is a driver side rear which I plan to use as trade fodder and the other is the front door which I will use on The Ghost.
Should make climbing in much easier.
