Just wanted to post that I just got an PM from a very well-known HAMBer offering me a FREE part to maybe help me out if I was bucks down. This guy, who I imagine from his message wants to remain anonymous, live 3/4 of the way across the country from me. We have never met but still he wants to help me out. You gotta love it. THANKS!!
We'd all rather see those parts in use than in a pile. He aint the first and now,... like it or not, you're part of the thread. Pay it forward and it'll ALWAYS come back around. That said, as poor as i am, even i have a few freebie parts floatin around the country on other peoples rides.
HAMBer's are the best & I have a great post, one that is appropriate here as well as in several other posts. My wife and I drove to Chattanooga last weekend for a anniversary trip & to take in the Honest Charlie - Coker Tire Cruise In. We drove my 56 up Friday and were less than a mile from our turn off to go to Coker for some new front tires when my ignition went ****. I had to have a rollback pick my truck up off the interstate and take it to Coker. Friday evening I contacted a local HAMBer, OoltewahSpeedShop (aka...Kevin). He got back with me quickly to let me know he would help me out first thing the next morning. Sure enough 8:30 am, he was there, ready to get his hands dirty. We tried everything before finally pulling the dizzy and basically rebuilding it with the help of the Honest Charlie Garage guys. Kevin gave up his Saturday morning to help me out, causing him and his wife to be a little late bringing his amazing little roadster to the cruise. If it had not been for him and the HAMB, I dont know what I would have done. It was a awesome experience.......
aint it amazing.i was in the train of thought that all people were a$$holes. even my so called friends all wanted something from me all the time. but when i needed something no one could be found.until i found the hamb.the guys here are truly amazing.most all seem to be eager to help anyway they can and that has changed my mind about people.well there still are the a$$holes but not as many as i first thought.hambers are the best!!!
I've had a couple guys send me free parts and wouldnt even let me at least pay the shipping.. i have done the same for a few people as well.. feels great to help each other out.. theres some good people on here...
There not a better feeling than helping out other Hambers needing a part. And remember, what goes around comes around.
I agree I have had some HAMB members go out of there way to help me and is very appreciated and never forgotten. I have also given to the cause and it is a great feeling.
I remember a year or so back a fella drove to KC from Canada to haul one of the fella's cars to the then South Austin Speed Shop in Austin, Texas. They worked for a week with the crew at the shop to straighten out the roof and some other things on the car. That is the way that the HAMB has always been and hopefully it will never change. Its like Frank said, just traditional rodding.
I've had parts given to me by other HAMBers and have given some away myself. The HAMB is without a doubt the best site on the web and you turds are like my extended family.
This really is an amazing site, and I have made so many friends through here along the way. I've said it here before, it's not about the hot rods, parts, kustoms, and races... It's about the people you meet along the way and the friendships, that are grown from it.. But the hot rod part ain't bad either
I caught VD from one (Female) HAMBer...ONLY KIDDING! Actually, One HAMBer offered me a frame for my wrecked 39'!
