ready to install motor

    hey i'm finally ready to insatt my motor in my 53 chevy truck and got some questions .I'm using s-10 front sub 327 with 400turbo & s-10 blazer rearend . how do i want to angle the engine? and set pinion angle. i just got my cab off the frame so i can finsh the mock-up and put in the 327 i've had stached for years 67 vette 375 hp

    my method of pinion angle is eyeballing it up so you might want to seek better advise on that

    to set your engine I make sure the carb is level from to back and side to side, the engine itself looking from the side will look like its leaning backwards but thats ok as long as the carb is level so the float works smooth, then I eyeball up the rear pinion angle so its NOT a straight line to the transmission

    I don't got one of them degree protrcator doodads so I work fairly primitive:eek: :D
    the upside is I have been fairly lucky or pretty good eyeballing cause I am vibration free in the 3 rearends I have put in from scratch over the years

    I always just eyeball it in the engine compartment then weld the mounts.Try to set as far back as possible while still leaving ample room to remove the dist. if neccesary.Make sure to check everything for clearence first.Things like exhaust manifolds, harmonic balancer, starter, fuel pump clearence can sometimes be a *****.

    make sure if the pinion is offset on the rear that you mount the engine with the same offset.

    hey dodgerodder, thanks that web site was just what i needed sould go smooth with that info now . i can set the motor in and start to get the frame ready for paint . thanks for the help hope to see some of you guys at the frog follies in aug. later bigdoug
