Title says 57'. Is it the grille? It belonged to my deceased uncle, but I do not know MG's. Tom S. in Tn.

Great pics of that 'Ford-Disney' "Magic
    Skyway
" ride, swi66! Thanks for finding
and posting them! Does anybody know
anything about the actual cars that
    were used? Where they more-or-less
    complete regular production cars, taken
off an assembly line and just minimally
modified for "Magic Skyway" use? Or
    were they specially-built, non-runnable,
    "stripped of mechanicals" facsimiles?
Also, I'm assuming that the "Magic
    Skyway" ride lasted several years
and thus would have spanned several
    Ford model-years - does anybody
know what became of the cars after
each model year when they would
have been replaced by the new,
    ''next-model-year' cars??

Yes, the grille. I can't focus in on the tail lights, but they should be different as well. I had a '62 years ago and really liked it. It's always possible of course that a later grille was put in a '57.

    :DALTERNATE CAPTION - "Until they
were finally caught in the act and fired,
    former Greyhound mechanics, Bob and
Ray Pilfer built their aptly named "Dog
    Catcher" AA/Fuel dragster with whatever
parts they could steal from work. Here
they are shown, caught red-handed in
    a company surveillance camera photo
    - as they would later unsuccessfully try
to claim -"just borrowing" a 6-71 blower
    from a GMC "Silverside" bus!!!!

I believe they came right off the assembly line and simply had the "hook plate" welded on underneath to tow the car along the track.

The Majic Skyway was for the 64 NY World's Fair and actually spanned 2 years. The Thunderbird in the 1 picture was clearly a 65 model. The motors and transmissions were removed to lighten them, and they were pulled through the exhibit. This was a good way for ford to get their new models test driven by millions of people. After the exhibit was over, the cars were re-united with their drive trains and sold as used cars.
I know one guy who has one of the 64 T-Birds that is documented as being not only a "pilot car" (one of the first off the line) but as a car from the Magic Skyway. It is an unusual mustard beige color, and some of the chrome is different than the regular production 64's.
There are still a few survivors out there of these cars.

I remember riding in the Skyway cars at the Worlds Fair. The fact that the engines and transmissions were removed was evident in the way the rode, noticibly bouncy.

Gas engine mounted to horse drawn wagon. These engines were made starting in 1872. The wagon has the drivers seat on the other end. It looks like someone would have thought to run a belt to a pulley on the wheel and have an 'automobile'.

Not a good thing when you have to look INTO the headlights to check if they are on.....

Ref: Cocacola Driver Photo. Does anybody know where that photo was taken? The photo resembles my cousin Bob, who drove for Coke in the Ellington CT area in the 50's. He is no longer with us.

I had a '60. It had disc front brakes and I have to assume the following years did too as does my current '73 MGB GT.
The yellow car pictured appears to have drum front brakes, so it is older than '60, probably is the '57 as titled with a later grill installed.
My '60 also had two tail lamps on each side with a much larger nacelle carrying the same teardrop light with a round bullet light above it. It's hard to see but the Yellow car doesn't appear to have the later tail light either.
My MGB GT has a plate in the driver's door jamb with month/year (11/72) I don't remember if the MGA had that in the jamb or not.
