Did it many years ago (1981) on an old '48 Holden down under, it was a monocoque (Unibody with no ch***is). I spaced hood and fenders evenly and welded up. I fixed the grill and made a 1/4" flat plate under gravel shield that supported front end. It was welded and hinged on front bar brackets. To stop the fenders flapping a support bar ran from where they met hood down to bottom of fender to maintain shape and stop them flapping in the breeze.
The rear of the fenders had to mitred and cut off before they were welded to 'A' pillar area, this allowed the entire front to tilt as a one man operation and not foul on the body when opening and closing. To secure the front I used keyed locks on lower rear edges of fenders. These are only photos I have however the car is still around 30yrs later, now white.

I'm doing that on an OT 70 Mustang. If you're interested in seeing what I've got going on, shoot me a PM with your particulars and I'll send you some pics.

    Bulldog,

Go to my fotki link below and scroll down to the tri five g***er album towards the bottom. There are a WHOLE BUNCH of photos there and many of them show close up shots from various angles of tilt front ends that should help you. Prepare to spend a few hours :)

Go to ebay and type in frame plans and look for the seller rod_plans. He has lots of plans for frames ,tilt front ends, hinges, and lots more.I have never bought any from him. He has a good rating. Steve

I have always thought about 1.5 square tubing slid into 2 inch square tubing >

Pull 2 pins just at the rear of the wheel well openings, grab clip and slide it forward say 2-3 inches then tilt , this would save you from having to cut the bottem corners off the front fenders.

you could greese the 1.5 and have it on pins ( bolts ) through the 2 inch to act as stops, my biggest concern would be it rattling but that could be fixed with some bushings or plastic washers you know that white hard plastic kind.

Extended the fron frame horns and pivoted the whole front clip off of the bumper brackets. Everything is bolted together and gas struts were used. I hated it as far as closing it. The fenders were always wanting to hit the doors/ cowl. A two person job, so i changed it back to stock.
