I have 56 of them. I quit collecting them when the grand kids came to live with us. The grand kids are in their own house now, so after 13 years, I dug them out of the attic. I shall start looking for more now that I have the space for them to be displayed.
I missed this thread the first time around. Super cool! I would LOVE one or two to use as candy/nut/candle dish in the living room. Anyone want to sell or trade one of theirs??
Not really a collector but I vividly remember my aunt, who was in her late teens at the time, picking one up and frisbying it across the room and cold-****ing my grandfather who was a mean little drunk. Good times!
My grandfather had one setting on his desk for years. I always wanted one and finally found one at the Turkey Run last year. I bought it for $15.00.
Nice collection super plus! I had several but I sold them off a couple years ago. I still have a couple of the pen holders.
Hi Guys - I'm a newbie here.. These tires are used by modelmakers like myself on actual models. I believe that someone, somewhere may actually be making new versions of these, especially the grip-tread types, but without the gl*** centers. I've spent several hours on google trying to track them down, but no success. Anyone know anything about these? Thanks. Doug..
We had one that sat on my mom's desk for years. I think somebody took the darn thing because I can not find it. It was there in the fifties it vanished in the last couple of years. There is one at the local Walmart store sitting on the counter of the tire lube express check out counter. It has been there for ten years. I am glad this thread was started.
I use to collect tacky ashtrays, but my wife moved in, and now I don't know/ can't remember what even happened to them?
I have one, a Goodyear Custom Super Cushion bias ply style from the sixties. Always thought they were cool.
Mine is a Firestone"transport 100 tubeless" and the gl*** has a raised "Firestone" Anyone else have one like it?
These things bring back memories of going to the tire store with my pops and seeing them on the counters.
I have two that were my grandfather's. One was still in the original box, which I threw away (like a dummy).
I have a couple, different sizes...I need 2 small and 2 large. (bias ply, matching: still looking for them) I'm building a large model of a Bunch Flat tail Sprinter, these tires are the finishing touch! Or cut them out of hard rubber in a fixture on my lathe...downside is they end up looking like toys.
I have a single tire, ashtray is missing. I will dig it out and post a picture if anyone is looking for one.
I have collected nine so far, but the most inportant one was my Father's. He died in 1944 and worked a mechanic at the Firestone store in my home town. Still smells like smoke to this day!
no I don't have any ashtrays, I haven't smoked for twenty years but I do collect clocks I've had this one keeping perfect time for many years
I'll trade ya for some cookies??? 29129 Oriole Livonia, MI 48154 I'd put a candle in the middle of it and put it on the coffee table. You wanna trade for cookies by chance???
