That ****s the big one all right and a lesson for all about fire extinguishers. If they don't have a gauge the only way to know their state of charge is to weigh them.
But who a**** us does that.

I think that you can buy neopreme fuel hose at Carquest auto parts. Just ask for aircraft - marine use hose. It's a lot safer than rubber. Bill,AZ.

    Scary!!

Not that it matters now, but there's usually a pretty good wind out there to fan the flames, although I don't see any whitecaps in the picture.

Live and learn. Glad you're OK! Your next one will be safer.

Why did they send the remains to Australia?

sorry about your loss,I almost lost my coupe to a engine fire, the other night. The flames were so big I thought it was going to burn to the ground but my nabor came over and helped me put out the fire. so now I will always carry a fire extingushier with me.

Sorry for your loss, Glad you made it out alright!!!!!

Just thought I would share this story with you. I was pulling my stockcar home from a great night of racing and the tranns in my truck stated slipping. The front pump seal blow out and was pucking ****** fluid out the front seal and that was landing on the exshaust cross over pipe and sure as **** it caught on fire... Being the only person who has a fire extingushier in my stock car I was able to put it out. Learned my lesson I have a extingushier in every car I own after that. Even have on in my 2012 F-150

what a huge bummer! If you do carry a onboard fire extinguisher make sure you service it every couple months by whacking the bottom with a rubber mallet to free up the contents as they cake up from sitting. also make sure you have the proper type.

Friend of mine in Olean NY had a Kustom 50 Merc burn like that ( to the ground ) on a road trip and found out later the rear brakes were dragging enough to heat up and start a fire. Wheel cylinder was stuck causing brake to stick. Same thing happened to him the extinguisher was empty. Check yours guys even if you think it's full.

This thread is the reason that I will be putting an extinguisher in both Studes.

  22. It is not that they are empty but more likly old. The chemical hardens up over time and they should be replaced every yearor at least shaken up often. They are less then $20.
