What or whom are you using for insurance?

I've been out of it a while, and going to get back soon.

When I had my last drivers,(early 1990's) I used State Farm, but haven't checked with them yet

Haggerty won't insure me as I use the car everyday

Grundy will not insure a daily driver.

You will be limited to State Farm, Allstate and maybe Nationwide. These are Stated Value policies. This means that when you insure the vehicle for say $30,000, that when you have a loss, that $30K figure could change in their mind.

I saw a truck insured for $60K that had $20K in damages almost totaled by Allstate (they thought it was only worth $30K (they were wrong).

I have Grundy on one that's an occasional driver and AAA on my '46 Chevy. I told my agent when i fisrt insured it back in the early '90s that I wanted it insured as an ordinary car. He was a car guy and came out to see the car once and knew exactly what he was insuring and said O.K. He said if i get in a wreck the car will be fixed like it was before the wreck. Never had a claim so can't say how good they are when it comes down to it. Not cheap, but I don't worry about "loopholes" either

It's probably best to have an appraisal done on the vehicle as it sits now too. It would cost a few bucks but may save a lot of headaches down the road if you happen to need to use the insurance. That and a detailed photo album of what is on the car that stays updated.
