TH350 rebuilder help

I just rebuilt my th350 with no parts left over. The question I have is when I put in the band, one end locked into the case. The other end of the band was not hooked to anything. I did not think much about it because the trans book did not say anything to hook it to. Now the trans is all back together and filled with atf. Now I am 2nd quessing myself. Is there something I did not hook up right?
