I want to do something semi-traditional here in a chopped/channeled/suicide axled pickup.. without spending a boatload of money. I have a '67 250 chevy six laying around i was considering, with a multi carb setup and open headers i thought it might be kinda cool. I do want somethin thats gonna be fast... but i don't know much about the chevy sixes. Any other suggestions shoot em' at me fellas.
Go with the six. In a light rod with some speed parts it'll have plenty of power and you already have it. Plus, you can always change it out later for ANYTHING because there's an adapter plate to hook anything up to a Chevy ******. Post pictures of the truck.
I looked into that a little Lukester.. especially after seeing pics of your truck. (Which is KILLER by the way) But theres a complete one on Ebay for $2500.00 right now, which kinda turns me off on them.
I'll be on the lookout for deals in a few weeks at the street rod nats. Hopefully i'll come across something that sweet. I need ALL the suspension for that thing too.
How about a large Caddy or Olds motor. Buick Nailhead will work also. Someone had 2 for sale in the cl***ifieds. I can get you a '61 Caddy motor not sure of price though.
Buy this and use the whole drivetrain. It's in Versailles. http://lexington.craigslist.org/car/77722717.html Then s**** the rest to get some $ back, after offering parts to HAMBer's of course. Welcome btw. Do an intro before you get ***** slapped.
Run a small block Chevy...anything different will never be cool. Go flat black with red wheels and a 350...the Rockasillys will beat a path to your door.
You should definitely buy the 65 Buick below that Kentucky found for you. Use the engine, trans and rearend, shorten the driveshaft, maybe the steering column. Either use the alum drums on your truck or sell them to recoup some costs, along with parting out the rest of the car, you may end up with a drivetrain for free or very cheap. This is a cool engine and the 65 has the good turbo 400 trans, maybe even a switch pitch version if you're lucky.
