hey i seem to have a braking issue, i installed the whole braking setup of a 51 chev into my 27 ford. from drums to master with early 80's chev drum in the rear. its like pushing against a wall and barely stopping me. blead the system and adjusted the shoes, is there something im missing? anything else i can do or parts i can add? not looking to disc conversion.

What bore master cylinder are you using?

Forget that, looks like you're useing the 51 m/c. You might need residual valves if the m/c is lower than the brakes.

Come on now! A '51 master has a residual valve built in.

What is your pedal ratio, "pushing on wall" is good description of too low a ratio.

    About 6-1 is a good ratio. Here's a picture of a '40 Ford pedal, ratio is 6.4 to 1.

    from Yakima WA.

Could you expand the explanation on your components?

What I'm reading is that you are using the m/c and front and rear brakes from a 51 Chev, is this correct? Or is it correct, but you are using a 80's Chev rearend?

Are all of the parts new? I'm just trying to figure out what exact parts are you using.

front brakes and m/c from a 51 chev and rear brake from a 80's chev car, the car does brake but it take a long time to do so. peddles hard not soggy. all the parts are new.

  11. Post the measurements of the pedal you are using and if possible a photo . I agree with what others have said , sounds like you aint got enough leverage .
