Can someone help me with a mechanical brake light switch? 1-how much does that little arm have? 2-what do you use to connect the wire to the round post? Will the typical female bullet terminal fit? 3- can these be found at any local parts stores or are they mail order only (was there a make/year that used these for lookup)?
Question 1 has no answer 'cause it doesn't ask anything concrete. Question 2 : Typical female bullet fits. Yes. Question 3 : Early Chevy pickups, just look in the stoplight switch section of the illustrated Standard Ignition( whatever line your store carries)electric parts catalog.
link to camaro brake light switch, used from 67 to 79, should be easy to get replacement parts anywhere. http://www.jbrp.com/1969-1979-Chevrolet-Camaro-Brake-Light-Switch-AC-Delco-69-70-71-72-7-p10153165/
Sorry 1 - how much movement does that arm typically have? Don't know what the hell I was typin the first time
The other one I was wondering about was the pull style that you see a Bunch on bikes/choppers. Would that work on the brake pedal? I am collecting parts to wire a guys '46 Chevy. It currently has no brake switch installed. Trying to get a game plan for that part of it.
I'm running two of these switches on my '49 , one I converted to be on when brake pedal is "up" to lock up my converter on the 700r4 . You can cut , bend or weld the arm to fine tune it too your application !
You should be able to buy one of the stock brake light switches almost anywhere. Rockauto has them on their website for under $6.
