rear wheelhousing

  1. started to cut the rear quarter panels on the 49 chevy and found some half round plates bolted to the top they were rotten with rust tried to remake them not easy when you don't have the gear. what is their purpose and do i need them. :confused:

    If you mean what I think you mean, the inner fender surrounds the tire completely and the edge is spot welded to the edge of the outer fender. In other words yes you need it. Otherwise the inner fender will be incomplete and dirt and mud will go flying around inside your car.

    You have to make the inner fasten to the edge of the outer fender. You can't just weld it on anywhere or it will distort the outer fender.
