On another thread about Using white vinegar to remove rust a member asked about using white vinegar to remove on some old side pipes,i responded with a link to another thread - http://www.vintagebmx.com/community/index.php?showtopic=4004702 well i finally decided to actually help out here & went to Ace Hardware & bought a tub of Oxalic Acid {wood bleach}cost me $10.09 here's some real time pictures, #1.are of the untouched parts-some car {Hudson}& some chopper parts since i'm going to post pictures there too.
I also decided to throw a old carb in the mix to see what would happen??? here the tub acid,45 minutes later the acid/water mix is 'green'
The pipes are soaking right now in the white bleach - guess I'll let them soak over nite. The brackets turned out great - had them soaking in the white vinegar.
in your thread,the link i posted-a guy said 18 hrs-mine have been sitting for almost 2 hrs-chuck P/S i realize the hemi valve cover is not chrome but what could it hurt?? update---after 5 hrs everything is still looking the same,
well even after 24hrs not much changed,i think 5-7hrs is going to be the best-since nothing changed after that, {this is at 1tbs per gallon of water}
That's not really a high concentration. Suppose its all experiments but the package says quite a bit more for its intended purposes.
yeah,i thought about mixing it stronger,but ran out of ideas what to put in the tote.can't put a bumper it or a wheel--i'm looking for a BIGGER tub to put stuff in for next time----chuck
I'm still "old School" in the photo dept - $5 throw aways - I'll get a buddy to take some pixs this weekend.
