GREAT CAR.... owned by an even greater woman.

We had an opportunity to meet Barbara Hamilton at the Gasser Reunion. We talked for a long time with my wife asking her all kind of questions about getting into drag racing. Was a great afternoon.

Used to LOVE going to Thompson for the reunion/nationals.

It is the summer of 1962 in a small town in Kansas and one of the local Hot Shoes has just purchased a new solid Red Grand Prix Pontiac. A few of my pals and I are 14 years old and hanging out at the local Phillips 66 Service Station. This guy has just picked up his very first new car 3 blocks down the street. Skinny white walls, black rims & no hub caps. All the windows are rolled down, radio on, startling white bucket seat interior with a 389 / 4-speed. So as he turns the corner to head North and he knows we are all watching, with our mouths dropped open and eyes bugged out, he drops the hammer and the car promptly spins around about 270 degrees smack dab in the middle of the intersection before he can come to a stop with the brakes locked up. That particular move was not cool but to this day I remember that GP Wide Track as one of the most beautiful cars in my memory. A brand new big Red car, the noise and the tire smoke left a forever lasting impression on this kid. Breathless, well yes probably, no make that a for certain.

WoW..... this is a great thread!!!!

I have always loved the "E" type Jags. Such a great styling so far ahead of its time.... even by today's standards.

I have always wanted to take one for a drive..... maybe someday..... still on my "bucket list"!!!!!

Usually they are red and Italian. This OT Alfa does it, and I've never even seen one in person. And Model T thru C Fords. Gary

  19. The first time I saw an early 30's Cadillac V-16 sedan at a museum. I was probably about 6 or 7 years old...and I remember seeing the most impressive engine ever crafted in my mind. Miles of wires, pipes, hoses, and a block of iron. I would give anything to hear / see one of those again.

I saw this car in their shop when it was being built. Even though the work they isnt hamb friendly, their craftsmanship is incredible. Nice guys too.
