Hey guys and gals. I will be in Los Angeles for 8 weeks this summer starting May 14th. I am interning for the photographer/filmmaker Sinuhe Xavier. I've never been to california at all and was wondering what you guys would suggest doing in my free time? Any good shows during that time? Car guys or shops that don't mind visitors? Also if you know anyone in LA with an open room(or closet haha) during that time let me know
This has been covered on the hamb many times. Do a search for things to do in la or something like that. My personal recommendations are the petersen museum, the nethercutt collection, chino air museum, the hot rod museum at the fairplex, bobs big boy in taluca lake on a friday night, van nuys blvd cruise, the Getty, and the website posted above for car shows and swap meets.
Thanks Fleetside and Murocmaru for the great info! socalcarculture is a great site. As always I did many searches before posting but I still felt like I could benefit from asking...

When you need a break from the seven-days-a-week car scene, there's Disneyland, Malibu Beach, Hollywood Walk-of-Fame, Muscle Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Venice boardwalk, Griffith Park Observatory (where Rebel without a Cause was filmed), etc....
