You're right but I didn't know if you had a separate album with random shit in it. I'll have to create an album to put those things. I'll do that later. Sorry dude.

I'll get a picture of the intake and add it to the group album.

Damn, just got off the phone with a guy who had an add on C-list for a $300 '57 SBC with weiand valve covers on it. I was really hoping for the best... turned out to be an early block with later heads and 80's era valve covers... bummer.

  8. Gonna bring this back from the dead, as I was wondering about the time period on the Weiand stuff. I just bought this set (3x2 intake, valve covers, and fuel block) this week, and can't wait for it to arrive.

Unfortunately, it's not for a super awesome SBC. Just for some weird engine called a Y-Block...apparently Ford made 'em for awhile?:p

Well it being a Block Lettered Weiand stuff I would definitely say it's all mid 50's stuff. Those Valve covers are the bees knees and I believe there are some on ebay right now along with a 3x2 intake just like the one you have unless you just won the bid haha!!

The fuel block might be my favorite piece but the whole setup is pretty rad. And while you joke about it not being for the super rare SBC, I would probably put money on the fact that the SBC stuff is harder to find since I have never seen them for sale but have in fact seen a couple set of the Y block stuff up on the other site. Either Or, both are incredibly rad and I would be stoked to have them. I had to resort to running Hildebrandt VC's because I couldn't find any haha!!

This kinda sounds like "number matching" a hot rod motor. I hope not.

We have a set of SBC "Say Why-And" covers on our Bonneville Street Roadster. I bought them new in 1963 at Scotty's Muffler Service. I liked the more squared-off look better than some of the others -- you know, curved down at the ends. They have "327 Corvette" cast inside them, right under the other lettering on the outside. Hope this helps someone date them for their project.

    Cool!

I just picked up the matching dual-quad for those (Weiand WCV327), which i guess would be a similar era based on the part number.

(pictures added to the Say-why-and group)

I know this is an old post that I am resurrecting. But I think these weiand valve covers look great I'm trying to build a 60s style 57 Chevy and saw a weiand dual quad Intake on eBay and these covers are the match. What do these go for usually.

Here is a couple of pixs of older Weiand valve covers I restored and updated to
use the new style grommets for the oil fill and breathers , that I installed on my Deuce.

I have been constantly searching for a set of Weiands like the the set titus has posted .....to
use on my Deuce .... no luck yet , but maybe someday I will find a set someone will part with .......

Those and the $1700 ones he's referring to are the only one's I've seen listed on there in 3 years... Rare stuff it seems. I'd love to have a set. But can't swing that.

The gal that ran "Rod & Rail" Speed shop in South San Francisco dealt directly with Weiand in the mid fifties thru the sixties. She was also a Howard's dealer, friend of Howard Johansen.
I asked about the Weiand "Say Why-And" logo on the 6 jug log manifolds for our 354 Hemi we got from her.
Phil Weiand got tired of folks calling up and wanting "Weiland" (WEE LUND) heads, manifolds, and valve covers. So he put the correction on the new castings, (1961? Thereabouts)
I remember all kinds of young guys calling out "Weiland" when they saw his wares.

I bring this Thread up again just for the hell of it .... I'm looking for a set of Weiand SBC Valve Covers like these (not staggered holes) .... if anyone has a pair they want to sell .... shot in the dark here.

Here's a set of the corvette style block letter Weiand valve covers. This photo was taken in 2003. Unfortunately I sold them within a year or two for what I thought then was the outstanding price of $175. They were pretty much mint. Arrestors.jpg Yes I wish I still had them. I think the red/orange paint around the Weiand lettering is how they came from the factory? Has anyone else ever seen a pair with the corvette style bolt holes?
