I opened up my 1959 Motors Manual tonight and found this stuck in between some pages like a book mark. The cars pictured look to be mid 1950's. Pretty cool tips and hints. I like the exhaust mod best.
They were from "Popular Science" magazines. They used to be printed just after the "Model garage" section. (These articles are available on-line- look under "Gus Wilson-model garage"). Excelent reading and the drawings were spot-on for detail.
I like the funnel trick. Even in the light it is hard to hit the dip stick hole sometimes. Guess my eyes are going bad.
I liked the idea of the funnel but then got to thinking what about if a bit of road grit got into the funnel, as soon as you pulled the dipstick out it could fall down into the sump?
So is the stick on soda can exhaust tip the grandfather of the ricer fart can? I like the package tray idea, may do something like that
