I found a set of slotted mags at a pawn shop near me for $175, but with some stuff to trade and talking them down I could probably get them for around $100. Just never really see these sorts of wheels on early 60's sedans. They would be going on a 63 Rambler. Thought they might look tough, but don't know if they would look funny. Anyone have pictures of any other era cars rolling with wheels like these?

They're labeled as Cragars, 15 inch. Have the universal offset bolt pattern.

I'd give a buck 75 for the set in a skinny minute!...and yes, they would look great on a rambler if they are not to wide,

  5. I have them on my wagon ....

It looks ok but nothing stellar ...

Maybe the knock-offs aren't for everybody, but the slotted mags are way cool.

Do it! With some skinny whites for a mid 60s bellflower style would look good IMHO

I wish I could like those, but just can't get there. I think they look great on compe***ion cars but just don't seem right for street cars in my narrow mind. Steel wheels just are my bag, but strokes for folks and do what makes you happy, just get the car on the road and beautify the scene with an old car! ~sololobo~

Traditional early 60s wheels, go for it!! I love them.... My 63 American had them. Brought those "bat ear" mirrors over from Japan. Technically illegal over here since they were BOTH wide angle, and Americans are too stupid to use a wide angle mirror on the driver's side. Loved them -- NO blind spots, and it's pretty darn obvious that the cars are further back than they appear! Knowing one is where you're about to change lanes is a bit more important though. If it's there and you know it you can turn your darn head to see how far back if you have to! But you get used to it and learn to judge distance real quick... unless you're a stupid American. Most of us car nuts aren't that stupid!!

I picked them up and they're pretty wide, 15x8.5, 4" back spacing. Don't know how they will fit, suspect they might rub when turning unless I get some skinny *** tires and don't really want to do that. If they don't fit on the front I might just run them on the back.

8.5" should work on front. You might have to space them out a little to get off the trunnion. 8.5" is a bit wide for the front, but you should be able to run 215s or 225s on them and be okay. I don't think the wheel wells will take over a 225 -- I run 215s on my car, but have 7" wheels. I don't think you;ll get more than a 225 in the rear either.

  20. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

    bttt. run 'em.

  21. I have seen them on '60s builds. There is some arguement that they didn't exist but they were probably around by about '64 or so.

They can look good, depends on the build and the size in relation to the car. If you have them on a ramble and that are all stuck out with big old steam roller ties on 'em they are going to look goofy.

I got a pair of skinny Ansens that I am thinking about running on my Stude backed up by widened steelies. The style of car that it is is performance oriented. I really think that is where you draw the line on them is it a performance car or a cruiser.

    Surfacerust,
I would like to know more about this car, it loooks like it is headed for sweet. Is there a thread about the car somewhere?

i run aluminum slots on my 52 willys PU... here's the thing...

how do YOU think they'd look? if you can get em for a benjamin, then snag them up. quick, before i find your pawn shop... plenty of people would double your cash fast for that price, so you really dont have a down side to getting them

Anyone got a picture of the charcoal 61 Ford Starliner from Hollywood Knights???
It was running slots and a nice rake.. I can't imagine that car with any but the slots on it, it looks killer!
On the right ride, with the right stance they look slick. And without a doubt worth the kinda money for a set.

14" X 6" U.S. Mags paid $25 for all four at a swap meet, the old guy said that nobody wanted them because they were Ford pattern(actually two were and two were uni-lug) took a lot of sanding and buffing but worth it.

Hey, I didn't say it like that! Lots of missing words in between...

  30. I think there is a perspective here that although P&B touched upon it, many folks are missing and that is the difference between running a pair (2) of slots or on all four corners ... In my mind running four sends out the message that the car owner has no imagination and maxed out his mastercard on a trip to K-mart for rims ... just run a pair (front or rear) and something comlimentary on the other end ... but big and little.
