i'm geting ready to tow a 54 buick sp 300 miles home i need to find out if the drive line is enclosed or not.........sure hope not thanks johnnyfrank
It could be enclosed. It depends on if the car was an updated version. When I bought my 50 Pontiac it was all original and I thought it was an enclosed drive train as well. But I found out there were a few that were what they called updated, that are not. So youll just have to look and see.
Yep, my buddy's 55 Roadmaster still had an enclosed driveline, so I'm sure the '54 will also. the '55 Roadmaster fit on a regular 16' car trailer no prob, I don't think you'll have a problem. You don't want to tow-dolly or flat-tow an automatic anyway, it'll do hell on the transmission.
Buick realy wouldnt let go of the closed drive shaft I think up to 59 or 60. I should know I've had 5 Buicks so far. Were they the last who else had em that long.
Hey, Is there a way to convert from enclosed to open drive shaft or should I go to the tech board. If this 53 buick comes thru I will have to do somthing about that. Thanks Bart "moontripper"
If I could borrow the thread a second, what is the concern about towing a closed driveline? When I towed my 49 Chevy home, I had the rear wheels up on the tow dolly--but I don't know why I had to do that, only that I was told to. Thanks Tucker
