So my old '47came with "hot rod black" paint when I got it, so it was sort of predestined when I got it. But lately I've been really turned on by metal flake paint. I've been tossing around ideas of maybe scallops or just the fenders, or the WHOLE car metal flake... but I'm not worth a damn on photoshop, and I'm not brave enough to paint it and hope it looks cool. Also, I don't see many custom 1946-1948 sedans around to bounce ideas off of... If anyone could photoshop some scallops or something on there, or find some pictures of 46-48 Ford customs, it would be much appreciated! anyway, here's a link to the thread with pictures, see what you guys think. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=678032
Is it very difficult? Seems to me that it's just as much work as it would take to prep a car for a real paint job!
Try this link https://www.google.com/search?hl=en...urce=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=BualT8WdK4bG6AGUl7GmBA I always thought these sedans look good in maroon with tasteful scallops. But it 's your car.
there is a real good photoshop thread going on right now here on the H.A.M.B., check there, they may ba able to help ya.
This is awesome! Do you think you could do one with lime green metallic scallops?... and maybe make it stock height in the front and low in the back? Thats the way it is now, I made some longer shackles. I love those caps! What are those?... I'm really digging low all around, but I wanna see how it would look with its current stance with scallops.
Thank you so much! That was really fun seeing my car transform like that! I think I'm gonna go with metal flake red scallops, seems to agree with the car the best. Nice chop
... could I bother you for one more mod?! I'm thinking now about painting the top metal flake red, with the scallops... if you don't wanna, that's fine, you've done a lot already.
Here's an idea. I was in the dollar store today and noticed in the craft section, a display of metalflake paper, metalflake in different colors in jars etc. They call it glitter but it's metalflake. You could get the metalflake paper and draw or trace your car on it. Or use the glitter to paint a model or a picture. Trace the outline of your car on a sheet of clear plastic and lay it on the sheets of metalflake paper to get an idea how it would look in different colors. By the way don't say Photoshop too loud around here. The other day I asked for advice on the best Photoshop program and got thrown out.
That's a really good idea. Haha, did the stickler police get ya? I've had a couple of my threads of mine shut down. They can sure dish it out, but can't take it!
But I'm going to continue painting the top. I've already done some of the trunk lid... I found this "Glitter Blast" arts and crafts spray paint that Krylon makes. at $6 a can, I can afford to experiment on the real deal.
