http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950s-1960s...t=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr This gauge would be perfect in my project truck but the guy doesn't have a complete set and doesn't know what they came out of. Any ideas?? John
Smiths are for English cars, for the most part. Be careful with something like this if any of the gauges are electric, because you will probably lose your mind trying to find the right senders.
Not to mention the crazy positive ground wiring systems,.. I thought it looked European (Pronounced "your-a-peon") And although a very cool design,.. I'm not really fond of using European parts on hot rods. IMHO
Are you just looking for that style? If so check out new vintage, they have a set that is setup in that style. http://newvintageusa.com/images/1935-black_01.jpg
My little brother put a '64 Chevelle post car together when we were kids, he used Smiths gauges out of a triumph because the guy at the wrecking yard said he could havwe them. They looked good and worked well. The fuel gauge worked off of the Chevy sender no problems believe it or not. The rest of the gauges were mechanical.
I was thinking of using the face and bezels. I just love the look of the gauge. It will go well with the wheels, steering wheel, etc. If I could figure out what car they are out of, I could possibly find a set and have them rebuilt. Hopefully I can find the origin of these.... John
I have a set from them. I am very happy with them. The service is top notch as well. They went the extra mile on shipping to Ontario, they actually used some one other then UPS to ship as requested, surprising how many shops won't. Oh yeah, they were one of the only ones I could find that offered KPH speedos.
