Blackwalls or whitewalls? Steelies or Halibrands? Hood or no hood? Rac**** tail or Jack in the Box antenna ball?

Bunky, if these are the kind of questions that keep you up at night, then have we got a solution for you!

The Deluxe Hot Rodder's Indeciso Animatron 2005

It works in just 7 easy steps:

    1) Hire a kick-*** hot rod artist such as the lovely and talented Jimmy Smith, Concept Illustrator to the Stars

    2) Have the artist draw your hot rod project PLUS an additional sheet containing a handful of extra pieces and parts rendered in the same size and perspective as the main drawing

    3) Scan the main drawing along with the extra parts and drop them into Photoshop as separate layers, making sure that all parts are moved into the appropriate positions on the main drawing

    4) Use the Photoshop ImageReady animation program to slice the drawing into duplicate frames, then turn on different combinations of layers for each frame

    5) Save the resulting file as an animated GIF

    6) Stare at the mesmerizing animation until your eyes droop out of their sockets while still failing to make a final decision on anything other than what to have for lunch

    7) Hire a licensed the******

It's that simple! Now go fire up that waffle iron and get busy!

Gosh, Unkl Ian, I know it's not, like, as on-topic or inspired as the spaceship animation you used to have in your signature and stuff, but I thought maybe someone here might like to see it. :)

Here are some photos of the ch***is and engine that are a little less speculative.

He's a friggin' boy genius. Yep, black steelies and full hood is the winning combo. I'm ruining the vibe with radials and front disc brakes, though. See rolling ch***is above.

I know there was a post about it awhile back, but can't seem to find it. Can you tell what those rear tires are. They're the perfect radials for the bias-ply look.

Dunlop Radial Rover AT 215/85R16's in the rear and Dayton 165/R15's in the front. I might have gone with 16" wheels in the front if there was a good, narrow, non-motorcycle radial tire available in that size.

  9. That's very, very nice..

I dig 'em. The only windshield I like better than the DuVall style is the Hallock style, but I don't know of any available for a '31 roadster body. If I ever build a '28/'29 A it'll definitely sport a Hallock.

I dig the full hood, the steelies, and the V-windshield. Tires have a good look to them, they don't spoil the look like some real modern tires do. Would look even nicer if you sanded all the lettering off the sides of the tires for a smooth look. 80 grit on a DA pad works well.

    Top job on the illustration...
You realise you are building my dream Rod, will advise the shipping adress when you finish it.
One gripe...Illustrators love drawing rims about 4" bigger than they are, looks awesome in the illustration, but you build the car to the pic, then are left with a nagging feeling of mild dissapointment....although trepanier got over it with a big lathe and a fistful of travellers cheques.
will you,Zonkola, step up and supersize your steelies???

Ha! It's tough to tell without the body on the frame, but the drawing looks fairly close to reality to me--check out the tall rear tires on the rolling ch***is photo. (Although it's true that the front wheels and tires won't be as tall and narrow, mostly 'cause I can't find a tire manufacturer that makes radials in that size...)

I wish I could draw! I'm always amazed by the stuff talented guys can draw. I'd like to compair artwork of a 1930-31 Ford roadster on '32 rails vs. a Model A ch***is with a full bellypan.

Zonkola is EASILY the best guy to work for. He's insane. He supplies me with all the pertinent reference that I need and allows me the freedom to lay out the car how I see fit (within reason!). I've done a couple'a projects for him and both times, in addition to the misc. ref. material, he supplied me with an easy to use web page that really sums up the direction he wants his car to go. That all comes, of course, from his graphic background and his understanding of what a flakey artist might be looking for!
    Thanks ZONK!

Seeing the options pop on and off is neat-oh! We need to work together on some more.....
