I am going to split a spare manifold for my six (following the techmatic post) and was gonna run some straight pipe duals from it. I was wondering if anyone had some sound clips or vids of a split six (4-2 split) so I can see what kind of sound I am expecting.

its not a ford 6 but im sure its close to what yours will sound like. im running split fentons and open lakes on my 50 chevy and i love it. when u let off the gas in 2nd at like 25 mph u get this crazy machinegun sound it has a sound all to its own.

  8. recently put straight pipes with a fenton split on my stovebolt....i can now make all the harley guys jelous!
    loud, and very enjoyable!

  9. When I had my 235 Chev in my 53 I didn't run mufflers. If you were anywhere in front of the rear bumper it was okay. Past the rear bumper it was VERY noisy! I had some Harley rubs give me a gotohell look after blowing out some cobwebs while they were behind me. It also work on the assholes with loud stereos.

I've got headers that I built on my blown slant and there is nothing that sounds like it at wot. Also have headers on my 65 Mustang with a 200 in it and it sounds like a v8 at idle and really raps when you shove the pedal down.
There is nothing that sounds like a 6 with split exhaust or headers!

235s can be pretty loud, even with mufflers. I drove my 48 chavy with a 250 in it with open header for about 2 weeks. You couldn't keep your head under the hood if was revved up a littel. The sound was punishing. I could barely stand to drive it while I made up the exhaust pipes. With glass packs and dumping down under the car-in front of the rear axel, it's still loud. But it sounds sooooo right.

I have a split manifold on my 215 six and you can't beat it! It's all rusted out right now due to 13 years of storage but it still sounds good

  14. what affectt does the backpressure and such have in a 4 /2 split?

I mean, Your packing twice the exhaust and back pressure into on pipe, right?

    anyone ever notice a difference???

Look around and see if you can't find one that was a factory original (or a clone) ad use it. The flow and the sounds are great. They were used on the '53 and '54 Corvette 235 six.

The set up on REJ's mustang was 2 barrel weber, cam, clifford headers, mini turbo mufflers.

  21. If you're expecting it to sound like a V-8 you'll be very disappointed. Some folks like it. If I had a six I'd muffle the hell out if it.
