Pretty sure that when I replaced mine (a 47) the one I got was from a 40 - But that was a few years back. But i feel pretty good about saying that.

Can't say for sure on your year, but on my 49 Ford COE the whole upper half of the cab is same as the regular trucks for the 48-52 models and i think it may be the same idea for yours. So what I am suggesting is you could possibly use the windshield frame out of a 39-40 pickup.

The answer is YES and NO. There is a slight difference in the swing arm brackets on the windshield frames. When you swap frames from different year trucks, the swing arms might line up slightly crooked. There is also a difference in the windshield post covers between the different years around the swing arm. That difference is readily apparent when they are side by side. All this aside, you can swap the windshield frames, but be prepared to as you may need to add spacers to the swing arm studs.

thanks for your help. any coe parts for sale??

  7. How about a '55 Ford C600, and '55 pickup compatability?
I am told that the pickup and coe share gl*** and weatherstripping.

I do have a few spare parts. What kinds of parts do you need? Are you a member of the Yahoo COE group?

Peterchampani, I have a pair of 41 Ford COE windshields for sale.
They are not in very good shape, but like my wife, better than nothing!

Ps, on a 41, the gaskets around the windshield frames are made into the frame and can not be replaced.

Sorry, I don't have either of those parts anymore. My truck is a 41 and I sold my front cab mount and emblem several years ago.

As for the the windshield gasket (seal) it can be replaced on all the 38-47 COE trucks. "Backorder Bob" Drake is suppossed to sell the window seals, but has not had them in a long time. You can use the seals off a 1939 Ford closed car as they have the exact same cross section as the COE. It will take two seals from the car to have enough material for the COE windshields. You will have to glue the window corners yourself.
