Its spring in Northern Cali and the temps are in the 80s and I am getting open car fever and I see a 23 Studebaker roadster that needs work for a nice price, but I have a very nice 48 Stude truck that is lots of fun and I cant have both because then I will eventually have none (DIVORCE). Couple of ways to look at it. 1) I have a runner and I know what I have and I love the truck 2) I can get plenty of sun on my motorcycles 3) I have to store the car outside and storing a roadster is going to be harder than throwing a cover over my truck 1) I love the wind in my hair 2) I love the classic roadster look 3) The project part (wiring, floor, intake/carb and genny) to get it to a runner will keep me out of trouble. One major question I am very used to and spoiled by a manual fat man front end - it goes down the road nice - will I hate the hairpin/ford front end?? So I do not get flamed - Pics
I vote to keep the truck. With the car, you may find where the previous builder cut corners, and then you are in for a complete rebuild...
Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission get it and in time the wife will like it, Hell tell her that you brought it thinking now good she would look riding in it. But what do I know 1 divorce and 20 years of short relationships. But love the toys. And that is one bad ass truck
i would keep the truck...to be fair i would probably also try to by the roadster; but overall im a truck guy.
Everybody needs a roadster. Get a tent thing, portable garage to keep the weather off. The Ford front end is fine. You can get plenty of help here to solve any issues it might have. You need to have a selection of vehicles to suit different purposes. One size does not fit all. You can carry more beer in a roadster than a motorcycle.
keep the truck, and buy the roadster telling the wife that it will keep you out of the bar and out of trouble by staying home to work on it. Has worked for me!
Move here, you'll get all the 30F's and 40F's plus winds all you want. You won't have to decide then.
Buy the roadster and keep the truck. That way at least after the divorce, you'll own two bitchin cars. Unless she gets one in the divorce. Okay, maybe not.
Keep the truck, paint the truck, buy the roadster, hide the roadster from the wife. That worked for me,until the time it didn't anymore.
Keep the truck, keep the motorcycles, and buy the Roadster....then Divorce the Wife .... Bahahah... Just kidding, but personally if you really like that roadster, time to move on and have that experience. Cheers, and good luck!
I would disassemble the roadster and hide the pieces around the shop. when the wife asks about it, tell her that those jeans make her ass look fat and that will be the new topic of discussion.
