Many years ago I remember seeing a triangular shaped gl*** prism mounted on the bottom of a windshield so the traffic lights could be seen in an old coupe. On ebay they are selling an economy traffic light viewer for $7.95 that sticks to the windshield.

What other options are out there?

4. The stick on cheap ones aren't worth a dime. The guide ones can be bought on line for around twenty bucks and are excellent and just like the factory one in my first car, a '49 Pontiac fastback.

1. Mount the viewer as high on the windshield gl*** as possible.
2. Thick edge goes up so thin edge goes down.
3. Flat side goes to windshield, concave side goes toward user.
4. For widest effective area coverage, lens should be straight across the left to right line in the car but windshield bow may make this difficult.
5. Adjust the tilt of the lens to move the image of the light higher or lower to create best view.

mgtstumpy, Is yours held in place by a magnetic base? Thanks.

I had the guide one too, in my 4 inch chopped truck.
Worked good until I put the dash back in. Didn't want to drill a hole in it, so I haven't installed it any more.

No, not magnetic. The end of the arm has a small tab that allows it to screw to windscreen garnish mold or dash top. I won't be drilling any holes and will use the bracket with a rubber so as not to damage the new woodgrain finish. :)

My 59 has one with a magnetic base like shown in mtgstumy's post. Try to get the gl*** ones, the plastic ones will crack and craze in the sun after a while. Pull up to your garage and imagine as a way to position it. Once you get to a real light you can make final adjustments where a traffic light would be at and use that.

Search using "Traffic viewer"
