Hey. Just getting my 54 Chevy on the road and wanted to do a couple more thing to dress it up. I really would like to get it pinstriped by someone but can't find anybody in the area to do it and funds are running low. Would I be a total ***** to get pinstripe decals? I'm pretty sure I know the answer but though I would get some opinions anyway.

I'm sure there's somebody around there that can help. If you don't have the money yet save it up. Car shows are on the way and there will more than likely be somebody in the know. Good luck. Stickers are for race cars.

Make sure you pick up some of those cool bullet hole decals while your at it!

Actually I'd suggest picking up a stripping brush and some One Shot and start practicing. Cheaper then hiring it done. I did many years ago because I couldn't afford a pro. After a while I actually left them on, they looked good enough and bonus, started making a little side money stripping buddies cars.

You'd be better off with nothing then some vinyl tape stuck to the paint. Get on the Pinhead's lounge and look for someone in your area.

Kinda bit a bad one there dude. Don't be discouraged, ya gotta ask. Watch for a show where they are doing striping and have a few small touches done, you can add at any time. Keep hotroddin and grow some thick skin for rashs you may get on here. Great looking 54, keep it clean and drive it, you are way ahead of a lot of folks, you own an old car!! Take your time and you will stumble right into a striping deal before you know it. Hot rods forever! ~sololobo~

Dude, you're in Gettysburg? Take it to the Jalopy Showdown. One Armed Bandit is one of the best I've seen. Or bring it to Pittsburgh and I'll hook you up. There's also Lucky Strike from Pa that does some traveling. I think he's on here.

Respectfully responded to, really sumed up well. Thick skin will help, but if you don't ask you will not learn/grow. Try it yourself, you may be surprized. I have race truck that have stickers, but the wall removes them regularly! And surprizingly, we do still do some of our numbers etc with oneshot

Well sure, use the decal stripes .... but only if you've got one of those old Von Dutch pinstripe decals ... and then only use it on a tool box or a thermos bottle. I guess you got the best answers already.

  21. Well, someone has to pipe in with a re****al. I know it ain't trad, I know it's, at least, semi lame, I know if you use it, God will kill a puppy and 2 or 3 pinheads will starve.
All new vehicles, with stripes, use tape. I have it on my Dodge p/u. It's held up well since 95. You can get it a an auto body and paint supply. Don't use the Pep Boys stuff.

There is what I've been looking for. I knew the answer the answer before I asked it but it got some attention.

The Jalopy Showdown, I'm going to have to look that up.

Tape will start to peel off eventually no matter what - my OT car has some and in has a bunch of bits that flap in the wind. It's cheap so maybe give it a try to see if you like it while you are looking for an artist. You can always pull it back off

Just looked up the Jalopy Showdown and can't believe that I didn't know about it. The funny thing is that I was planing on going to the show in June at Latimore Valley. I don't know if I will be ready for the Jalopy Showdown, but if I am I'll be there.

Yes, pinstripe decals would make you a total *****...on the other hand, who said the decals had to be some cliche, tired, overdone "old skool" pinstripes when you can get this super bad *** decal for your car?!?!?!?!?

  27. I do the decal thing for a living (signs, banners, etc.) and there's no subs***ute for paint IMO when it comes to your ride. Support the artists if you can find them.
